I have solar and low cost ToU overnight at home, so a nice sunny day I get a "free" charge for the truck, but a cloudy day like today I charge overnight on the "Ultra low" (2.9Cents/kWh) rate which sure beats the heck out of the $140-$160 a week I used to spend at the pumps...I can see this Truck will feel like it was "free" after ten years of "not-Gas" driving !!
It sure is a new sensation compared to being a slave to the fuel stations...loving it.

Hope to see you post the outcome, good or bad.
So, had my recall appt. today, Ford Dealer is 42 miles away. Goggled driving times, one said 1 hr. Put the Location into the trucks Nav, it said 91 Minutes. Appt was @ 9am, left @ 7:15 am, got there @ 9:10am. Service writer, Jazmin was Nice, had some questions she could not answer. One was about the BMS. In any case One update was to take 30 to 4.5 Hrs. . depending. She came & told me 24S76 was done 45 Min later. Finally came & told me they were done @ 1pm. Ball joint Insp, (24S56) was NPF (No Problem Found).5 Hrs But they replaced both Upper Ball Joint nuts & Torqued.. The 24B56 recall took almost 2 hrs. Spoke to the Owner/GM told him I was VERY happy with my lightning, and the attention they were providing. Told the service writer that this was a test . . to see if I was ever coming back for service there, Told Jazmin I was happy. Asked her how they did the updates, if they connected a computer to the OBDII, she had no idea what that was , , , Hum. Any way, took 110 min to get there and 50 min to get home. Glad that is done...

This is a great posting - showing the real world experience you had with the truck and service centre. Glad it worked out, and you got the truck back for the ride home!

In my third week of the new Lightning - I am still giddy over this truck.
I look for any excuse to run out and get something, just to ride around in it.
I got my new Typhoon Pro adapter from A2Z EVshop online - ordered last weekend, and it came in today, so about a week.
{edit paid $219.99 CDN$ plus tax, free shipping in Canada}.

I know a Tesla charging station that is near-by so I will set up the app and test this out close to home - better to make sure it works before I actually need it lol.
I have to wonder about all the different charging standards CSS1, NACS, CHAdeMO, J1772
in a few years maybe we will laugh at all the conflicting "standards" we had in the Old-Days. :)

Did my very first Fast Charge today from a Tesla charge station near-by. Ran the charger just 20 minutes to make sure it all worked properly and charged up from 60-something to 80-something percent. Okay that was pretty easy, I think I will do this again next week to be sure it wasn't at first time lucky thing. Then I will feel like I know what to do on a hwy trip - when I will need this type of fast charging to get from place to place and not be waiting too long for charging up.

I went to another local building that has a "Jiffy" charger - it had two J1772 level 2 chargers that are supposed to be activated with just a RIFD card ie CC or Debit card. Neither of the two chargers would charge using a CC or a DC. Not sure why, since the charger seemed to be 'on' and seemed to read the cards ok, just wouldn't charge the truck. This type of failure is rather disappointing and frustrating, what if this was the charger at a hotel, and you are expecting to charge while your sleeping ready for the morning, only to find the equipment isn't working...

Usually, RFID activation means a dedicated RFID card for that specific charging network. Not a credit or debit card. But I could be wrong. What location did you mean, specifically? Do you have a PlugShare link? "Jiffy" as a charging network doesn't ring a bell.

the Jiffy charger you stopped at may actually need a rfid card that they issue, you would set up a account with them to charge your credit card and they would send you a rfid card to use at their chargers. I haven't seen this brand in western canada, but there is a brand called switch that uses this type of prepay account.

I find the ford blue oval charge network, that you can set up through the ford pass app, works pretty good to locate and activate chargers. i have activated flo and shell dc fast chargers with the ford pass app so far and you can also activate the tesla chargers as well with it.
you can also used a credit card at any electrify canada station as well.

So you are clear, you can't just go to a Tesla Supercharger, it has to be a compatible location. This has been posted almost daily, yet people keep just going. FordPass, or the Tesla app with your truck and adapter entered, will only show compatible locations.

As to just going to other chargers, you worry about them not working. Again, posted often, use PlugShare. Pick "hide Tesla Only" and you will see only compatible locations AND reviews telling you if they worked.

Of course the hotel chargers could break just before you arrive, or already be full, so ensure that you know where the closest fast charger us. And, the truck has such a huge battery that a slow level 2 charger may only give you 30% overnight.
