Has anyone managed to buy directly off the dealer lot yet?

Yeah, I seem to be finding a handful of the Standard Range Lariats out there. Unfortunately, I am not finding any of the Extended Range, except as mannequins. I did just get in touch with a dealer who has their mannequin Lariat with ER battery coming up for sale in December. I am guessing that I would not be able to claim the Federal Tax Credit for that though, but if anyone knows the answer on that for sure, let me know.
If you take delivery in December, you can claim the tax credit. Demo vehicles are not titled to the dealer in Illinois. You will be the original purchaser. You should probably ask your tax advisor, though.

I was delighted to pick up a brand new 2022 Lariat SR last week at MSRP. Exactly what I wanted. Dealer called me as I had a reservation, probably wouldn't have gotten one until well into 2023 otherwise...

I'd really like to be able to snag one of these but not sure how to get the ball rolling. I'm on lists at like 20 dealers and not a peep.

I've got a deposit on a SR lariat dealer stock, waiting for arrival in the next week or 2. Spec is exactly as described elsewhere. Stalked cars.com aggressively and contacted a bunch of dealers before I found it.
Have been watching for inventory the last few weeks out of curiosity, not seeing much new. Suspect most of these had mid to late Sept build weeks so if they aren't already showing up in dealer inventory already I wouldn't count on them appearing.

Well, after searching and searching for a dealer to sell me their mannequin or one of the other random trucks they have ended up with, I finally managed to find a dealer who could sell me a 2023 Lariat with Extended Range battery that they have coming in with a target delivery window between 11/14 and 11/20! It is definitely priced a little higher than I was hoping for (and a lot higher than what my wife was hoping for), but at least I will get to claim the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit and the $4,000 Illinois EV rebate to help. I am so excited! I can't wait to take delivery of this truck!

I'm suspicious of any dealer who says that they simply received a 'Lightning out of the blue' for stock... with over 200,000 CUSTOMER reservation still outstanding, I highly doubt that Ford has decided to skip all those future orders to simply provide a dealership a Lightning they don't have a customer order for... that makes no sense.
I suspect that these are customer-ordered CANCELLED purchases. The dealer may not want to admit it, as it surely sounds better to a potential 'off the street' customer who might be oblivious to the last 17 months of the rest of us 'waiting' in line for one.

I'm calling BUNK on this one. If the window sticker is the same color as anyone who ordered one, then it's a customer-ordered vehicle, NOT a demo or simply 'dealer stock'.
Well you'd be wrong my dealer got awarded a Lighting from Ford without the "demo" tag or being a customer order. My dealer hasn't marked up a single Lightning or Bronco. They were only allocated 3 in MY22 and those were all sold to the people who ordered along with the demo unit and the one dealer stock unit

Nice. Is it a canceled special order? I’ve had the opportunity to buy two off the lot lariats but both were SR and I know I’d regret not getting an ER.

I noticed that the dealer had 4 2023 trucks listed on their site when I had been chasing them about a used 2022 that I decided against. The dealer e-mailed me this morning to let me know that they had sold the used one, but they did have a 2023 from a canceled order they took over from someone else coming in that they could give me. It was only a $4,500 difference between the used 2022 and the brand new 2023, so kind of a no-brainer in the current market. And, yeah, I am totally with you on the SR vs. ER. I had been tempted to go with a SR 2022 just for the sake of getting one, but with a quarter trip to our cottage in WI that is about 260 miles away and an upcoming trip from Chicago to Cooperstown next summer for my son's travel baseball, the extra range on the ER will definitely make these trips a bit easier on us.

Great find and fingers crossed it actually gets delivered in CY22. Do you have the VIN? I’d be interested in tracking it with the other MY23 trucks.

This is absolutely correct. I was there Friday when a lightning showed up for delivery, credit to my amazing salesperson who helped me on a bunch of vehicles. I had extenuating circumstances (lemon), but I got it for MSRP and will be getting the $7,500. It’s a standard range Lariat base which seems to be coming in to most dealers, but it had BlueCruise and the sprayed bed. I’m perfectly fine with the range though I would have preferred more. But not at the 2023 new MSRP increases + Lariat High package + no rebate. Once that crosses 80k next year you can’t get the rebate, so I suspect the SR will be a popular unit.

I just put a deposit on one as well. Most places were putting big markups on them still. I finally found a dealer who wasn't and was the first to inquire. While I'm not getting my first color choice Rapid Red, Star White Tri coat is pretty sharp and Getting 22 pricing vs 23 means I'm getting a few more options for about 6K less and ensuring a full tax credit!! It's expected to arrive within a few weeks. Also excited that this unit has the heated steering wheel and advance security pack that's getting deleted! I'm going to let my existing order alone to do as it will until I take delivery then I'll let my dealer know I'm abandoning it and they can add it to their stock.

Killen Ford (In the Austin, Tx metro area) just texted me that they just got a Black SR Lariat delivered today. Looks like they are tacking on $10K ADM. I spoke with the sales guy and they have some wiggle room but management won't let them sell at MSRP. There was another user on here that was working with them last week and I think they went as far down as $5K over. You may have a little more luck as it seems the truck they had last week still isn't sold. Here's the link if anyone is interested. I can also put you in touch with the sales guy I spoke to. His name is Aaron.
