Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit PU-22G06

@techmatters are you saying that when you look at the Sync screen vehicle settings for Remote Start that you do not see a drop down for heated wheel options are {AUTO or OFF}?

I'm curious if turning it off for those of us who have control disables visibility in Fordpass?

Side note, sometimes my heated wheel functionality is inconsistent with departure time and or remote start climate, most of the time when I jump in the truck it's warm but when I PUSH TO START, the lamp does not illuminate, I manually turn it on, other times it'll be on.

BTW my heated wheel came with truck as built.

I deleted the app, restarted my phone and redownloaded and paired the app, no luck there, but like @TaxmanHog brought up, I don’t have a way to enable it in my truck settings.

@rugedraw the APIM module on Livinitup’s google sheet has Climate Auto Heated Steering Wheel, I don’t have my FORScan setup with me right now to check what my truck currently has for that address.

there’s also heated steering wheel in a few other modules but like you mentioned, may not be relevant to the issue I’m having

A-ha! That I may be able to help with. I would start here in the APIM. It may take some tinkering, but the key is here.

I had the 22G06 retrofit completed by my local dealer and it successfully turns on and off by using the button on the screen.

The question I can't seem to find the answer for, why do some people get the heated steering wheel icon in their Fordpass App when they remote start, and some do not? I've been trying to comb through the forum to see if anyone who had the retrofit completed after taking delivery has gotten the proper update to get the HSW in their app.

Lately even when I remote start my vehicle, my HSW isn't on even if it was previously on before I turned off the vehicle and it's 20º outside. I checked the settings within the truck and I don't have any option for the steering wheel like I do the seats/defroster.

I'm wondering if I can update something in FORScan or run an FDRS programmable feature, it's been a while but I vaguely remember seeing something about a heated steering wheel in FDRS back when I did all my updates to get latest BC.

Any advice or direction to go in would be fantastic!

Main reason would be the interrogator running. Once the as build is pulled up to fords server you probably will see it. Until then you wont. THis is the same thing for when I help people add BlueCruise. THe truck has Blue Cruise but shows pending activation or coming soon until the as build correctly reflects on fords server. Then it triggers Ford pass to show it.

There is a limit though. I added zone lighting and had all the appropriate as build changed and it was pulled up on FOrds end. Still wouldnt show in FOrd Pass.

Since your truck should though I bet it will once the as build is aligned on fords end.

The only time interrogator is run is before and OTA and then in FDRS after the OTA there is a second bite at the apple for the Interrogator.

So if you send me your vin Ill take a look at your as build

Maybe it's an EV thing. Both our Lightning and Mach-E have this.

Climate in FOrd pass as a whole is EV only..

Yes. All of the appropriate as build needs to be enabled so when the interrogator runs it triggers the Heated wheel to show.

I’ll pm you my VIN now. I should have mentioned I had the HSW Retrofit completed by the dealer earlier this year (January to be specific) but now that it’s getting cold again in the northeast and I see people posting screenshots of their app with heating steering wheel icon, I want to figure out why I don’t also have that option.

My initial suspicion was when the dealer ran their automated software to enable the HSW, maybe all the kinks weren’t worked out yet, I know the retrofit was put on the shelf for a bit for parts limitation and also programming issues. But it does seem like it could be possible to fix myself, especially with all the help this forum graciously provides.

Just tried it and I don't see options for those things in my Fordpass. I guess I've been missing out this whole time and didn't even know it. Unless it is only for the EVs? Wish I could be of more help with this.

Same here. The seats and temperature control shows up in the app, but the heated wheel icon does not show up in my app. I may try to uninstall and reinstall the app this weekend and give it another try.

My retrofit was done last week. I didn't even realize this was an issue until I saw your post. My heated steering wheel works fine but I did notice this morning it was not on when I remote started and my app looks like yours. No heated steering wheel option.

I did mine DIY but I'm curious to see if what you find for these guys would work for my truck as well. I'm 100% OEM, just did it myself.
