Fingers crossed, the Bluetooth fix from Power-Up OTA 6.4.0 (or multiple 6.2) may have stabilized HIS initialization issue that I had with my system. Today I was able to successfully activate and provide power from my Lightning.

Things learned:
  1. Once activated HIS to provide power, the Charger and Truck’s charge indicator light turns green (normally blue)
  2. If excess power is produced by solar, vehicles is charged with same DC connection (bi-directional).
  3. FordPass app doesn’t give any indication about current state of HIS power delivery. This maybe a bug but I wasn’t about to disconnect and reset HIS to see if it improved FordPass app.
  4. Best data is provided by M Professional app (see attached images)
Bonus: last week, I spoke to one of the Sunrun’s lead HIS electrician about Bluetooth connectivity improvement. One question he asked me was if I have any “metal” tonneau cover (which I do). He suggested to keep the bed open to improve Bluetooth signal.

This has been one of most convoluted and disappointing hardware installation experience to get charger to talk (bluetooth) to the Truck to initialize HIS. But there might be light at the end of the tunnel after all. Once you know how to line up the truck near the charger and keep your bed open, it might just work.

If you fire up the Intelligent Backup app on the truck home screen, you can also monitor power transfer through that. I have a BAK BAKFlip MX4 hard folding tonneau cover, which incorporates some aluminum, and I find I don't have to open it to get power transfer to work (my truck is parked with the crew cab within a few feet of the HIS unit, the side of truck parallel to the HIS wall unit). I did get both the original Power Up 6.2, and the revision, plus 6.1 and 6.3, but can't recall that any of these updates said anything about connectivity improvements (forgot about 6.4, see below). In several tests since December 4th, power transfer has failed during the initial test, but a cold reboot of the system and reconnecting my FCSP has then allowed power transfer to work like gangbusters (comes on within 1 min 30 sec).

The real crunch test comes this Monday afternoon when the city public utility is out to inspect the system for its working condition to see if it's safe to play games with grid power. It will really be a big fail if my HIS unit flunks its final exam!

Edit_Update: Looking at the Power Up 6.4 thread, I do see that I got the 6.4 update on 12/12 (I forgot that). But receiving that update on 12/12 had no effect, AFAIK, on the failed initial try vs. cold reboot success achieved on both 12/4 (before) and 12/15 (after) my Power Up 6.4 update.
