Hi sheppy, There are many of us in the same boat with an expensive system and our faith in Ford to support a system that works as advertised. In a consolation to your frustration try the unplug/plug in trick. Hopefully your system will come back to life using this method. This might get you powered up in the event of a power failure.
I will give it a try for sure thank you!

I wanted to chime in my own findings with the HIS issues. Two things get the backup system to kick in every single test so far for me;

1. With the charging cable still inserted, unplug the charging cable and plug it back in, this wakes up the truck's charge port (charge indicator lit up with a white ring), then it goes green after a minute and starts transferring the power to the HIS.

2. With the charging cable still inserted, start the truck (brake pedal pressed + start button) and the HIS power backup transfer kicks in.

So far this seems to indicate that the truck is stuck in some sort of sleep mode and thus not responding to the HIS RS485 wake up call (Delta E-Series BDI Inverter and Ford-Branded Siemens VersiCharge EVSE).

Thanks for passing on the start button method.

I had an outage last night. I tried the start button method. It did not work. I then started the truck and looked at the Intellegent backup screen. Saw that it was stuck Preparing to provide power. I then switched from Automatic to Manual start mode. The truck on 3 tries attempted to provide power. But it stopped after about 5 seconds. The dash display showed me a couple of different faults. First time it showed a fault in the truck. Second time it showed a fault in the Charge station pro. Third time I am not sure what it stated. It did tell me to refer to the truck's owners manual. I wish I could have gotten an image of the messages. But the time on the display was pretty quick. I spoke with Ford today. They took down my Charger's id. They told me it was a known problem and that it would be fixed by a Over the air update by the end of the year. I was hoping that having the 10.1.1 update would have fixed this.

First question is did the green light ring show up on the truck next to the charge cable?

If so, Is it possible that your backup system would be able to turn your charge station pro circuit on?
I have seen some setups where the charge station pro breaker is on the backup load panel. This would immediately shut the system back off, which would then pull the power back off the charger, and fault out the truck most likely.

I also have seen where the delta inverter sees a voltage fault and resets, but it will actually resolve itself within a minute or so I believe.

I know from your previous posts that the system has worked sometimes in the past, but didn't know if that was in testing or in actual full outage scenario.

When I was in Automatic backup mode and did the start button I never saw the green ring. So that is when I decided to go inside the truck and fire up the screen so I could see the screen. All I ever saw was preparing to provide power, and that the Charge Station pro had the green bar. I waited about two minutes between attempts to use the start button.

I gave up on automatic and decided to try manually starting the backup. I was inside the truck and couldn't see the button. But the Charge station green bar got brighter and the screen in the truck showed it was providing power to the house. Gave me a moving kilowatt supply number and estimate of run time. Then it shut down. I tried this three times. Hopeful at first, but quickly disappointed when it shutdown. The dash display gave me fault messages. But they went away too quickly to fully grasp them. Once it said truck fault. one time charger fault and the other time I don't remember.

It has worked during actual outages on three occasions. When it was first installed and we got through commisioning and all that stuff we had sucessful tests. The most success was early on. Since then I have been reluctant to cycle the system because it puts me in a rather disagreeable mood. Even when Ford has been on the phone with me asking me to test my bluetooth and other stuff.

It does seem like there should be something in the charger and the truck that can be read by Ford, at least I am hoping so. And, this is the first time that they have asked for my charger ID.

Wish I knew what the fault is so I could mitigate the situation.

Keep in mind that wireless device comms using shared public spectrum can work for years without issues then suddenly have problems because other wireless devices in the environment were added/changed/removed.
This aligns with the fact my Sunrun tech who both installed and came to fix the system 18 months later said to turn off the Bluetooth on your phone when trying to get the system to pair, etc. Another Sunrun guy pointed out that relying on Bluetooth when there is cabling between the charger and truck was a design flaw. Has anyone heard if Ford is considering moving away from the Bluetooth connectivity in favor of using comms wires in the charger in fixing this morass?
