Because it has less frunk area? Also aerodynamic looks optimal, I guess freeway MPGe would be higher than Lightning. Please comment.

It could have a 10 foot bed for all we know they haven't finished it yet.....

The front is 12" shorter than a typical truck which gives the back 12" to grow. Ford was forced to keep the same proportions as a gas engine truck.
I’m not sure “forced” is the right word. It’s a design choice that was made to appease the legacy truck buyer. Much like the clumsy shifter handle and oversized door handles.

Crash testing, Cab and bed dimensions parts, dash, etc; is how we have an electric truck. They used the ICE 150 to allow them speed to market. This was mentioned by Jim Farley
The Lightning is a regular, everyday F-150 with an electric powertrain shoved in, and that’s pretty much it. But this no-nonsense approach allowed it to reach the market quickly. The next EV Lightning is already being designed and engineered.
Jim Farley again mentioned it's going to be a Very different vehicle and some aren't going to like the design, but it's a purpose built EV truck that will be very different.

sw engineering manager,
If you look carefully at the CyberTruck, its bed is 6.5' long only at the bottom. The front wall of the bed is sloped in about 6-8" as it rises the first 12" from the floor (estimated from photos). At the back window glass, its maybe only a 6' long bed space. You also lose a few more inches up at the top where the cab roof hangs over the bed. You would not be able to fit a 6.5' long x 2' high volume of stuff in the bed of the CyberTruck with the tailgate closed. 6' would even be doubtful for taller volumes.

Of course, conventional pickup beds like the Lightning also have a small overhang at the rail of the front wall of the bed.

Personally, I would prefer a much smaller frunk in favor of a longer bed on a wheelbase of about 150 inches. I also don't need the quad cab anymore now that my kids have outgrown car seats. You can always put a shell, cover, chest, or tool box in a general purpose bed to suit your needs for enclosed cargo. Having all the cargo volume in one place gives the best flexibility.

Too bad the Ford E-Transit Chassis Cab doesn't come in a shorter wheel base with AWD like the ICE version does. (It would also need a larger battery and fast-charging capability.)

In Europe, Ford also sells a double-cab ICE version:

The cab does appear a bit more forward. But also remember that a Ford SuperCrew has almost limousine-esque rear seat legroom. Photos of CT prototype rear seats appear far less roomy. Combined, this could easily account for a 12” increase in bed length.

It’s an interesting choice by Tesla

compare to F-150 SuperCrew rear

EDIT TO ADD: not to forget that parts of the CT will be 3mm SS, or stamped SS, possibly allowing for the depth dimensions of various components to be lower (e.g., the back wall of the CT cab could be 1” or more “thinner” than the back wall of an F-150 cab, etc., owing to the materials differences in strength)

Better close up of the angled part of the CyberTruck bed front wall:

Thank you for this info, I wasn’t aware of that. Hard to see with all the reflections on the shiny SS.

My 2 cents.....the production version of the cybertruck will be very different. Or it will be wildly expensive and the affordable version will be a completely different design.

I think Tesla has a pretty good track record of the final vehicle being fairly close to the concept show, but I just don't see them making it to high volume production with the current design.

And these 2 photos show reason #278 why I much prefer the Lightning to the Cybertruck. Lightning has lots of leg room, climate vents, 12V, USB, and 120V power, cupholder, and a fold down armrest. Plus fold up seats for more storage.

Cybertruck has.....seats.

I think its a clever use of space. that I actually like. Its just a little misleading to call it a 6.5' bed. Would be more honest to call it a 6' bed with bonus length at the bottom.
