I was able to find my VIN by:
  • Navigate to order\reservation page
  • Open the browser console (CTRL + Shift + I)
  • Select "Network"
  • Refresh the order page
    • Either from your account or the details direct link
  • Look for a response that looks like this (I saw 2 responses, 1 was empty the other is a JSON doc):
    • "<reservationID>?lang=en_us&includeBSLData=false"
  • You should find an element with "vin":"XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
dude, how on earth did you figure this out? nevermind, don't want to know. had to dig around a little more than your instructions but found the vin. thanks!

Would you share where else you did your digging and what you found? I looked in mine and have no VIN listed as described above. The reservation, order, etc are listed there easy to see, but no VIN. I suspect mine is just not assigned yet as I don't build until 5/23, but if it is I'd love to find it.

5/16 build date looks like I have a vin already. Now back to the hardest part which is waiting.

i'm familiar with html so i ignored a lot of the website components like .css files. look for a file that starts with your specific data, like your reservation number. clicked all the way down one of the sections, the 'entries' one.

I am able to pull this same information with my screen showing the same status as your screen snip and see a VIN number in the code. I ordered through the dealer and have not received any notification if my vehicle has been scheduled for production and in an email to them yesterday they indicated they had not seen any of the lightnings they have on order having been scheduled. Is there a place in the code where build date information may exist?

Thanks - I had searched pretty good. I don't have a VIN yet. Per the spreadsheets we have the same build, different color, but even the same week of 5/23. I'll continue to look over the next few days.

Well - stop the presses, I do have a VIN. I had to study that screen shot by @syrc - thank you for sharing that. I had been using search to look for "Vin" once I had identified the section with my order number. If the proper sections are not expanded search won't find it. I focused on "entries" as he noted and expanded.

There are many other things in there. I'm going to expand each section and save it.

If you are scheduled and haven't found your VIN it is likely in there, you just have to keep expanding sections.

Many people get paranoid about posting those, but I'm not sure I see the issue with it. Most every vehicle out there is posted on the sales sites.

I doubt the first units go into storage waiting for chips, but the first units will be produced under the "Batch and Hold" system. Units will be built and held until a second and/or third quality check is performed. They also won't be shipped until "OKTB" or "OK To Buy" is produced. That could take weeks.

I predict the people with the earliest build dates will be annoyed with the delay in the deliveries of their trucks.
Yes to the chip thing. Doubtful of any holds.

OKTB is normally 3 weeks after Job1. That is important because vehicles are queued up (stored) for delivery until OKTB, and because any further quality updates done after Job 1 are typically performed "First In, Last Out". So the person with the unit built in the 4th week after Job 1 might get their unit delivered first, and the first truck built gets delivered a bit later. Add in delivery distance, and from a customers view, it looks like a completely random delivery schedule.

Plus, if the process runs like Mach-E, then customer reserved units will get delivery priority over dealer demo units, so the dealer demos get pushed to the back of the queue. Way back.

I wouldn't count on "First In, Last Out" with a brand new platform. Back in 2014 when we launched the new aluminum truck, we had a problem with tailgate latches. The first couple of thousand units off the line were in storage for months waiting on the latch manufacturer to get to the backlogged parts while new units coming off the line got the updated parts.

It identifies what will soon be mine. Searching for it gives us all something to do beside discussing the full range of the truck on a cold day. It gives us insight into how Ford could be scheduling and building. It gives me the required piece of information to check on insurance. It is the piece of information I'll need for state rebate.

Seriously, right! XLT+ wave 1 order here, just tried for the heck of it but nothing in the code for me. No schedule production date on reservation page but figured what the heck might as well check. Hoping to see scheduled production date soon

Props to @stimpy for digging deep into the html!

If you have been scheduled for production, you have a VIN. Call your dealer to get it. That is what I did.
