Still no 240v outlet is a no go for me. The electrochromic roof is a nice trick, but still rather have a power shade.

Great to see the innovation, their software (vertically integrated hardware/software similar to Tesla) is super impressive.... but one massive problem for me. The R1T is closer to mid-size truck than a full size. Thus I dont consider it a competitor in the Full Size Truck department.

That said... Maybe the R1S or some derivative for the wife sometime in the future.

Awww how cute. Should be in the mid-size category with the Silverado too.

100% agree. The interior is far too small to be a full sized truck. Seating 5 for any longer than an hour is an uncomfortable endeveor. It's a useful truck, but definitely a tacoma competitor and not a full sized competitor.

That said, it's a really strong mid-sized competitor. The trick tailgate, the towing capacity, makes it compete really well in the 1500/EV category. Granted there isn't another mid-sized EV pickup but it kicks the pants off any ICE midsize.

RGB Light bar, they stole that idea from one of our topics on this forum! Of all the improvements, that one is the most exciting for me :)

Solid mid size truck gets incrementally better. Just needs to be cheaper given its size.

My wife drives an R1T. I don't consider it a competitor to the Lightning, and I don't consider the Lightning a competitor to the R1T. Outside of the fact they both have a bed, they're completely different vehicles.

I love them both for very different reasons, and I'm pretty jazzed about the R1 refresh. A lot of good small changes that appear to add up to a relatively significant improvement. But none that make it more or less competitive with the Lightning.

We're leasing, and when it's up we'll definitely consider leasing an R1T with the max pack. 400+ miles EPA range would be pretty powerful in our use case. Of course, we have two years to go on that lease so lots of things will change in that time.

Yeah when my wife asked me what I thought about Rivian, I told her its a $70k electric Tacoma, no thank you!
Sounds like you’ve never seen a Tacoma… Or a Rivian… at least one or both of those…

I've seen both and I've driven both the R1T and R1S. The R1T is larger than a Tacoma, but still noticeably smaller than a true 1/2 ton like the F150 in several important ways, rear seat legroom, bed capacity/size and cab interior width and space.

Also my biggest issue with the R1T is the ride. I realize that isn't super important to everyone, but it just rides so stiff. In addition, while it is body-on-frame, unlike the Lightning or any conventional body-on-frame vehicle, instead of bolting the body onto the frame with noise and vibration isolating body mounts, the Rivian's body is attached directly to the frame. This leads to both increased vibrations, harshness and road/tire noise being directly transmitted into the cabin.

I had a Tacoma when I test drove the R1T. The interior space was marginally bigger than my Tacoma. Kids thought the backseats were identical.

As far as the bed, R1T was definitely shorter to the point where it didn't make sense for some of the loads we need to carry throughout the year.

Months later we test drove the Lightning and put in an order the same day. Thought I'd never own a Ford, but now I don't think I can ever go back to smaller truck. :D

I wonder if the R2 will share in some of these features and updates?

Also; that 1000hp quad motor is something. Those figures put it in some rare air, even at 130k+
