Could someone with the X4s installed measure the height between the closed cover and bed? I'm still waiting on my truck and just wonder how tall something can be and still fit in the bed with the cover closed. I have a large cooler I want by to put in the bed on trips and I'm not sure there will be enough height for it.
21 inches from the higher ridges to the bottom of the X4S.

Separately, does anyone have a ridge on top of the cover after installation? It's not a huge deal, I suppose, but the pictures and videos I've seen online are all perfectly flat...so this is bugging me.

That is because you did not add the 1/8th inch washers on either side per the installation instructions. The bed is slightly too wide, which causes the rails to not carry the cover correctly. The cover will sit on top of the channel instead of in it (where it will be flush). If you lift the weather strip, this is what it will look like. Just loosen the clamps, add an 1/8th washer between the side of the bed rail and the cover rail, and repeat at all 6 of the cover rail clamps.

Lol, I don't fight on the internet, but, wow, the absolute certainty you express while jumping to conclusions and being wrong at the same time is impressive! First, I did follow the instructions, including using the washers. Second, I took a look at the panels under the cover and found that one of the metal pieces isn't connected to the metal slats as it should be.

I would contact the manufacturer Truck Hero/ Bak Industries along with your seller. I think they will make it right.

Already done! I emailed last week and received a reply saying that it'll take a few days to get back to me with a full response. I'm assuming they'll make it right. From everything I've seen, they seem to stand by their products.

My reply wasn't meant to come off that way, I didn't mean to sound condescending! Sorry if that is how you interpreted it, one of the reasons why text isn't my preferred contact method.

I've never seen that issue before with your cover, was it like that from the start? I worry that if I roll it up wrong/drive with it open, that might be the outcome.

No worries, John! Text communication is fraught with misunderstanding! I was mostly amused by the certainty, tbh.

Yes, it came like that-the pics I posted were from right after I installed it. It almost looks like they skipped that piece when they did whatever they do (weld?) to put the pieces together. But it's stuck in that position, so maybe it was that the piece on the other side was connected at the wrong angle. It's like that the whole way across, so I don't think it's something you could do by rolling it up wrong or by normal driving. This, at least, seems like something that could only have been done when it was manufactured.

My auto down works and I can close it with it down. I would say you are hoot to go.

The X4S looks really nice. I have the X4 and the felt on the underside just decided to fall off.

So, I emailed them the pictures and they took care of me. They immediately sent me another cover (without the rails). I just had to destroy the old one (I cut up the top) and send them a picture to keep my current warranty. Easy peasy. Excellent company that stands by their product.

Something in my mind recently while doing yard work, had anyone with the X4 or X4s gotten a load of mulch, gravel, or dirt in the bed? I'm curious on how the side rails may hold up to something getting dumped into the bed.

Unfortunately, my cover is still pending a truck to put it on.
