Is there a way to get the BED LIGHT to come on when you open the tailgate?

I've searched the manual and can't find this but it seems like a reasonable feature to have the bed light come on for a few minutes when you open the tailgate.

I always struggle to find the button in the dark.

Zone Lighting in the infotainment to activate the light, then open the truck bed? That would be the only way I can think of.

Your idea makes too much sense.

Thanks I'll tinker with that but I still think that's a manual switching on/off. In the prior truck I've owned (Rivian), the bed light came on automatically when the tailgate opened - which is super helpful after dark.

Yeah my suggestion is manual. Sorry. That's all we get.

I agree the zone light is useful after dark.

you could pull the push button switch and change it out for a motion detector if you have a tonneau cover. That would open whenever you open the tailgate.

Other option is to install an illuminated switch and then reseal. Shouldn't be that difficult.

I think Ford should be a bit more aggressive in assuming how often we users are trying to do stuff in the dark. And at least some of us don't have the night vision we once had in bygone days. I agree that the bed light button should be illuminated when the headlights are on, and that the light itself should come on when the gate goes down. The button could be configured to turn the light off if the user doesn't want light. Similarly, I can't be the only person who has had to fumble around in the dark to find the button on the lip of the hood that closes the Frunk. It's got a black rubber cover that blends perfectly with the rest of the black rubber trim next to it. A light? Different color rubber?

Just go to Dollar store and get you a cheap stick-on motion detector light

Leaving the below link for others who are electrically inclined as I’m not. Also tagging @ZSC100 who is and could possibly adapt it for lightnings.

That looks awesome, thanks for sharing. Sadly it is beyond my skills to pull off but I would definitely pay to have this enabled. I would use the bed lights so much more except for some reason I cannot succeed in building the muscle memory of where the switch is and end up fumbling in the dark trying to find it where they have it tucked in the place my hand is least likely to touch.

So my trick is I find the bubble light on the wall of the truck, and the button is just to the tailgate side of that. Locating the big light is easier than trying to find that button in the dark. And totally agree, a glow in the dark button like they have in the frunk would solve the issue.
