If I read right they are still selling the 131 still. So it’s not simply shrink inflation. It’s a different option that they’ll have to sell at less and you know as good as anybody that extra sku and correlating inventory management will cost money every SKU does
Unless they are simply removing one 8kwh module (existing part/sku) but my understanding is the modules are larger than that

The 131kW is only for Lariat, Platinum and for an extra charge over the 123kW battery on the fleet trucks.

Ah yes I forget people by the 98. It just doesn’t seem like a lot of wiggle room in there to get decent margin to option them up to 123, unless they just keep trying to jump them up to the 131 as a “value” on the lariat, which is classic auto sales 101 so that would make sense

Sad, but likely true.

I need help understanding "replenishment centers."
Does every metropolitan area have a parking lot full of trucks awaiting a dealer order?
Where would I find the window sticker?

That is our understanding, I don't know if they are leasing open space or they are using the space available at rail end staging lot's.

If you can track down a VIN in the research of potential trucks, (it's embedded in the vehicle URL) capture it and substitute it for what I have on this link.

I wonder if Ford has redesigned the battery to improve reliability and reduce the need to replace failing battery modules? As my service technician told me, Ford has lost a ton of money replacing (Lightning) battery modules.

If that was the case they would also change the batteries on the Lariat and Platinum, but they aren’t. It’s purely a cost cutting move on the Flash. Maybe it’s to increase profits, maybe there will be a cut to MSRP. Nobody knows yet.

GM has a 400V system with 350kW charging. By switching connections internally, they split the battery pack into two smaller packs and run them in paralell. 800V pack and faster charging using the same amperage.
The battery pack is so big, they absolutely had to have it. The top battery is what, 212 KWH? It would take you more than an hour to charge it at 180.

If Ford can beat them on price with the ER battery I think they will do OK. There is a point of diminishing returns on bigger batteries and I think GM has reached it.

Just speaking for myself personally, my arse doesn't have 400 miles of range.

https://fordauthority.com/2025/01/2025-ford-f-150-lightning-production-proceeding-as-planned/

As Ford Authority reported last October, production of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center was previously slated to begin in November 2024, but the automaker ultimately opted to idle it for seven weeks, starting at the end of the day on November 15th, 2024 and resuming on January 6th, 2025 – a pause that included the traditional weeklong holiday break. The move came amid slower-than-expected demand for the EV pickup, but we hadn’t received any word on how 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning production was proceeding since then – at least, not until now.

According to Emma Bergg, global director, electric vehicles, energy & battery tech communications at Ford, 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning production is underway at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. However, the EV pickup’s build and price configurator hasn’t launched at Ford.com just yet, though we’re waiting to hear back on when that tool will go live. As Ford Authority reported at the end of December, the build and price configurator for the ICE-powered Ford F-150 launched a few weeks ago.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning isn’t being treated to a large number of changes for the new model year, but there are a few worth noting for prospective shoppers. The 2025 F-150 Lightning is one of several Blue Oval models to ditch its factory SecuriCode keyless entry keypad in favor of a dealer-installed part, and it’s also losing the previously-standard eLocking rear axle, as the automaker has opted to include the E-Locker (as it’s otherwise known) as part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package. Meanwhile, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning has deleted the Interior Work Surface feature for the XLT and Flash trims, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum. The Flash is gaining standard ActiveX seating instead of cloth, however.

The F-150 Lightning isn’t alone in terms of feeling the effects of a general slowdown in demand for EVs, as one of its chief rivals – the Tesla Cybertruck – recently received some price cuts to spur sales – while the launch of the all-electric Ram 1500 REV was just pushed from the first half of 2025 to 2026. As for the second-generation Ford EV pickup, its production start at the BlueOval City Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center was also delayed from 2026 to 2027 this past August.

BTW, forgot to mention that a window sticker won't be visible if the build has not been scheduled for production within 14 days of actual build date, since we don't have any idea which of these spec build listings are actually in the build pipeline it's hard to track down the window stickers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the e-locking rear axle lock the rear wheels together to boost the ability to travel through snow? Or get unstuck? Or avoid getting stuck?
None of that has anything to do with towing.

This IS the same company that did not include a trailer brake controller if you bought the MAX TOW option.

Which they did change eventually, but now you do not get a controller if you buy the TOW TECH package...
