A pressure washer should not cause paint to delaminate and peel. Cars should be able to go through automatic carwashes that use high pressure nozzles without having to worry that the paint will come off. It seems to me that this is most likely a manufacturing defect. In this regard, I seem to remember that back in the day, there were problems with paint peeling from plastic car parts such as rear bumper valances. I remember being told by the body shop that the problem was that they did not use the right amount of flex agent in the paint when my Chevy Monza was repaired.

Yes. I have used one for years as well as a foam cannon. That being said. I never use a tip that would be too much for vehicle washing and have not pressure washed this vehicle yet. Never had a problem with any of my other vehicles over the past 10 years. But I see your point.
I have seen lots of professionals use one in various "how to keep you car detailed" videos so not judging. My lightning is scheduled for a 7/18 built week and hopefully won't happen. Would drive me crazy every time I walked up to it.

So less than a month into ownership, I was washing her up and lost a piece of the paint on the grille!! No pressure washer was used this time just a garden hose. Contacted the dealership about a replacement as it seems very likely a manufacturer defect with no luck so far. Am I alone with this small but sad issue?

This is a warranty issue. Don't loose faith. Ford will cover the repair and the dealer should replace it. Make your claim.

What was the ultimate resolution?
Apologies for the delay,

Ford came thru and brought out a new grille to replace the damaged one when they came out to fix my broken Frunk which was awesome! They did however put the wrong grille on. I got it back with an XLT grille that apparently no one noticed. The correct grille is at the dealership now. Just need to be home long enough to get it replaced

Sorry to go a bit sideways here...what was the "broken frunk" issue?

Are they letting you keep the XLT grille? Probably could sell it to someone with a Pro (I can't imagine it's cost effective to ship it, or I'd be interested...)

I donā€™t know but it makes sense to me! Iā€™ll find out next week when I get it swapped

Well I'm investigating the adjustment procedure since I don't like hearing that grinding noise as the cinch actuator torques down the latch. My Mach-E liftgate doesn't do that and it's a very similar latch mechanism. And I'm not going to take it to my dealer for that. I'm the only one they've sold one to and they don't even have their own body shop.

I was told that the hood was slightly misaligned. They did adjust it after installing new hardware and itā€™s significantly less harsh when it opens now. FWIW

Interesting. Last weekend I left my Frunk fully open overnight after a day of working/playing around with the truck (It was charging, Frunk lights off). I went to close it and the Frunk hood was frozen openā€¦no movement on activation of the remote button, the button on the hood, or the button in the cab. There was an acknowledgment sound, but no movement of the hood.

Having to leave, I just gently pulled the Frunk lid/hood downā€¦it mated with the latch on contact and auto locked. I havenā€™t had this issue repeat, though Iā€™m no longer leaving the lid/hood open overnight.

I too have noticed that there is a pretty loud ā€œthud-popā€ sound when the Frunk lid/hood opens as the lock releases. Both of these issues are on my hit list as Iā€™m due for a return visit to my dealer for an accessory installā€¦..

Interesting, when mine failed. It would not move. Only give 4 long beeps. Nothing in the manual about it. Ford engineers

interesting. Yes when mine failed to move, it would signal 4 long beeps without movement. Nothing in the manual about it. Ford engineers are looking into it. Mine happened to be water intrusion in the connections requiring both struts and the locking assembly replacment

Unfortunately, I would not count on it. In my experience, the dealership needs to keep the part in order to substantiate the warranty claim.

Yep, that was itā€¦.4 beeps. I remembered reading your original post on your experience and panicked because I had some place to be and had no backup ride.

Fortunately, I was able to close it manually and it hasnā€™t reoccurred, however @Ford Motor Company , Iā€™m afraid to leave the Frunk hood open for any extended period of time. Hopefully it was a transient behavior, but I plan to report it to my dealer when take it in for the accessory install.
