A pressure washer should not cause paint to delaminate and peel. Cars should be able to go through automatic carwashes that use high pressure nozzles without having to worry that the paint will come off. It seems to me that this is most likely a manufacturing defect. In this regard, I seem to remember that back in the day, there were problems with paint peeling from plastic car parts such as rear bumper valances. I remember being told by the body shop that the problem was that they did not use the right amount of flex agent in the paint when my Chevy Monza was repaired.
