100% it’s weird how many Lightning owners don’t see this. I’ve never even thought about a buyback. This truck has buybacks happening everywhere. It’s literally something I didn’t think happens. While owners here are just saying “everything is fine” just another post of a person with a malfunction. Totally normal. just a bunch of whiners complaining about 40k worth of battery module replacements. On a new truck

And see, this is just you expressing that bias towards a lack reliability. Nobody is saying "everything is fine", in fact, you are the one taking an extreme viewpoint, not others. What people are claiming is your views are biased, not that there are NO problems. Because someone disagree does not mean they hold the extreme opposite view.

And nobody has had $40,000 in battery replacement. Again, another example of you taking the extreme viewpoint yet claiming it's everyone else.

If this was an honest assessment you wouldn't be using such biased arguments.

I did not think the truck would’ve depreciated so much. I was wrong. I just don’t want to find out if I am wrong again .

My idea was to keep it for 10-12 years. Again, I just do not want to find out if it will make it etc.

But then again, with my luck, in 3 months gas prices go to 6$

You do realize that you are the one realizing your loss?

Just like in the stock market stocks go up and that same stock goes down. You only actually loose money when you decide to sell.

so in your case and what you are claiming in keeping it 10-12 years, the truck before rebates would have cost you $80,000. If your annualized that cost it is $6,700-$8,000.

Not understanding how money and depreciating assets work, rather then keeping the truck you claim you still like, you are now monetizing your loss at three years, so rather then a cost of $6,700 you are happy writing a $10,000 check cause you are upside down in equity and are now making your cost over your term of ownership is $13,000, including having to take $10,000 out of your savings….

Yeah not a wise financial decision to sell if you genuinely had planned on keeping it for 10-12 years anyway….

Because everyone thinks their car will appreciate not be a depreciating asset.

Look at all the CyberDumpter owners that bought thinking they were going to make thousands because of the long long long list of reservation holders that eroded away and left Tesla with egg and the glue that should have been on the body panels on their face.

Guess what, my lightnings funds work for me and I happily pay the payment each month because what I could pay off is invested. Something you could be doing with that $10,000 but you would rather sell something now that you knew was going to be worth only $10-$15,000, at 12 years anyway.

You made a bad decision that is great, but that one is on you. Let me say it one more time, it is a depreciating asset, of course you are losing money by selling it….

You are telling me that with sales of just one year, the cybertruck had 8 recalls, motors failing all over the place, parts flying off, and that it's the lightning that is the most unreliable. I have owned my Lightning for almost a year now and I have never had to bring it in even once. Just look at all the truck review sites who tests and owns then all like "Out of Spec","JerryRigEverything","State of Charge".

The F150 has been out for decades and has a huge passionate base that enjoys talking about trucks, where as most of the other "trucks" are just startups. That is why there is a huge active forum following. If you are going to base your assessment on forums where people like to complain, it's your loss. Hopefully you enjoy whatever truck you get.

you win! I mean I do not know you, I will never know you, so it is not worth arguing.
Nevertheless, the “bad decision” led a to a better financial standing and less headaches..

If that was the reason why you were selling it that is great and an applaud you for taking a move to financially protect you and your family.

Believe me, I would and will sell my Lightning before burning my cash or investments if say I couldn’t make the payment in the long term.

I did that with my Silverado at the Great Recession. Lost the job, sold the truck, bought a used Camry drove it until timing was right and bought what I wanted again which ultimately led me to being able to buy my Lightning. Making smart financial decisions based on your circumstances that you don’t need to share here, is great!

So again, i applaud you if you would rather take that one off hit to protect your long term.
