I bought the Tesla Tap Mini - 80 amp version. I'm using it on my Tesla Wall Charger running at 48 amps. The Tesla Tap is very tight getting it on and off the WC. I have bought some dielectric grease but have not applied any yet. Truly I don't need to pull the adapter off of the WC often, but do plan on taking it with me if ever traveling. I also considered some light sanding paper on either the WC or inside of the Tesla Tap for just a little more clearance. It could be the pins, but there is no play in the plastic either however.

As far as plugging the Tesla Tap into the truck, it seems to fit well. Don't have any trouble plugging and unplugging it as long as it is aligned properly.

I will note the first time I used a DCFC, I wasn't quite close enough and the cable pulled on the truck charge port, I was very shocked at how much the truck charge port flexed and moved, I was afraid it could break or have issues. I've never seen anything like that on a Tesla 3 port - they seem to be much more solid.

I think care will have to be taken long term with the truck though.

@LUXMAN it’s not a big wow. I have a dedicated subpanel in the garage. My two Gen2 Tesla connectors are wired together but positioned optimally for rear charging. It just gives me an excuse to add an additional one that’s fit for a front port and of course J1772.

I would have gone with Teslas connector but it wouldn’t talk to the existing ones.

I just don’t like how hard the adapter goes in and out of the truck. I need a better solution. I decided to return this LECTRON one. It fits on the Tesla plug side just fine but going into the truck is too damn tight.
I just now plugged in her truck with the Nissan charger we have had forever and it slides right in and it’s just real nice. I can’t do this over time and destroy the charge port. Even if it won’t and it’s just in my head. Seeing that charge port flex is bad. So I ended up just ordering this adapter from TeslaTap. Its not the small one but is 80amp capable (only running a 60 amp breaker and the trucks are max 48) and has a standard J1772 handle. I will report how well it does as soon I can get it tested.

Had the same adapter with a Tesla Gen 2 Wall Charger, just be careful as it seems to be very hot if you attempt to remove right after charging. It worked well for 6 months, no issues other than the extreme heat.
Is this the 80A version of the adapter? The lower rated ones are not safe to use with our trucks and the Gen1 or Gen2 Tesla wall chargers, which will supply 80A.

This is the 80amp version.
I contacted Tesla Tap. He said it’s 64 amp continuous.
My Gen 2 is set for 48amps on a 60 amp breaker. Both of our Lightnings are SR so max out at 48amps.
my other car is a model three. So it’s a max of 48amps.
So unless I upgrade the circuit to 100 amp breaker and bigger cable and turn up the Tesla adapter, this one will work just fine.

Has anyone tried out this Lectron adapter? The adapter plugs into the truck and the Tesla mobile adapter with a regular amount of force, but starts blinking red immediately and doesn't charge. The adapter works fine on my electric motorcycle, so I think the issue is the connection with the Lightning.

I'm using this adapter. So far it has been connected to the Tesla Corded Mobile Connector, which is like their normal mobile adapter, but hard-wired with a 14-50 plug and charges at 40A. It works with my Lightning just fine and charges at 40A. As to why it won't work with your truck, I'm not sure. Do you get any errors in the truck or in the FordPass app?

Been using this plug for 4-5 months now. SOLID. My Tesla wall charger is on a 60A circuit breaker, so gets 48A to the vehicle and this works 100%. Checking your picture... there are a few models. Ready the details. I bought this one.

Working fine for me, though I've only used it for 120V so far.

Yes, I get a charging station fault error in the truck - but maybe I'm not seating it in far enough. I'll try again in the daylight.

Yep, that's the same one I bought. Glad to hear others have had success, and seeing that it works with my other J1772 vehicle I'm thinking maybe it's just not seated far enough in the Lightning.
