Good morning. Checked in with FDRS this morning and found a new gateway (GWM) update.

If it doesn't update as an OTA this morning (my update check schedule is set to 0900 everyday) I'll fire up the Mongoose later this afternoon and knock it out. I thought I'd wait and see if it comes as an OTA so I know what 'PowerUp' version it is.

EDIT/Update: So it's PowerUp 4.2.3 and it's downloading to my truck as I write this.

Same notes as the Mach-E version from back in Feb/Mar.

EDIT again.....and a short while later....

My gateway software revision went from "-LMA" to the now updated "-LMB".

Good morning. So after I let the gateway update via OTA yesterday to "PowerUp 4.2.3" I still had a gateway update in my FDRS available updates list this morning but I figured that it was because Ford's server hadn't processed the fact that the OTA was successful (the TCU hadn't reported in to the mothership yet).

So based on my experiences with getting 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 back-to-back on my Mach-E I knew that connecting up the FDRS laptop to the truck and running the network scan would likely show a TCU update this morning.

And that's what I did. So after a couple of times hitting the "Rerun Network Test" button this morning the GWM (gateway) dropped of my list of available updates and was replaced by the TCU update that I know equates to PowerUp 4.2.4. I decided that while I was there I'd just knock it out as it's a quick USB drive update.

One thing you don't get when you do updates with FDRS that would come as a PowerUp are the notes and notifications in FordPass etc. As I have already seen the notes for 4.2.4 in my Mach-E I know that this is the update that enables you to leave love notes and other feedback for Ford.

The software revision of my TCU went from "-JK" to an updated revision of "-NG" once updated.

@Mike G Could you help look up my VIN 1FT6W1EV4NWG04433 for pending updates? I am stuck in 3.5.4 for very long. Took it to the dealer multiple times and they could do nothing. Want to confirm before jumping on the Mongoose. Thank you so much!

That APIM update definitely should have come as an OTA by now.

Friday 19 May 23 and there's a new set of powertrain updates for the '22 Lightning.
Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning Software Updates using FDRS Lightning_Powertrain_Updates_19_May_23

Time to make some coffee and go get the gear out. This shouldn't take very long, the Mach-E version of this took 35 minutes when I did it about two weeks ago.

Did all those updates just appear? If so, time for me to buy another month's access.

25 May 23 and a new update for the Lightning this morning, a DSP update.

The last DSP update I did was for my Mach-E over a year ago. And that one was intended to fix distortion and dropouts.

EDIT: And according to SSM 51663 that's why this update was released for the F-150 as well:

SSM 51663 2021-2023 F-150/Expedition - Pop Noise And/Or Static In Speakers At Start Up
2021-2023 F-150/Expedition may exhibit a pop noise and/or static in the speakers at start up that cannot be turned down or off using the audio system controls. To correct the condition, reprogram the audio digital signal processing module (DSP) to the latest software level using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 18B849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Okay a followup to the DSP update that showed up yesterday. That update also showed up for ICE trucks as well, and just like those folks are experiencing when they do the update with FDRS, the DSP update does not disappear off the list after the update is successfully performed.

So for those considering doing this update just be aware that it will likely still be in your list of available software when you're finished.

This has happened with other module updates for the F-150 over the years, the ABS, TRM, and GSM to name a few. It eventually gets sorted and isn't anything to get concerned about, just a minor inconvenience.

So just something to be aware of.

So for those following this thread...hold off on getting the DSP updated. It will probably have undesired consequences. I now get a small "pop" when opening any door after unlocking the truck. Very slight, but still there. And the added issue of the DSP update not clearing from the available software list...all adds up to a bad release.

This morning I checked my VIN and found in addition to the naughty DSP update that's still in my list, a new update for the front hatch control module. Not sure what it's intended to fix though. Let me know if you're experiencing issues with your frunk, if so maybe that's what this is for.

Good morning, another lovely Friday and another update appears in FDRS for the Lightning ('22s at least).

This time it's a new gateway (GWM) update, that usually means it's laying the groundwork for something else that's coming down the pipe.

I still have that pesky DSP update in my list that never cleared, and I haven't gotten around to updating the frunk hatch module yet. I think this morning I'm going to try and see if this GWM will show up as an OTA by having my truck remote start to charge the 12V battery ahead of my normal 0900 time I have set in the "check updates" schedule. While I can easily do the gateway update with FDRS (it's a USB update) I'd like to know what PowerUp number it is as well. And if I use FDRS I won't know what OTA it was until others report success.

EDIT: I decided to do a 72hr sub to PTS and this is what that new GWM update is gonna be:

So I guess this is just the notification before the actual download happens. I'll take a drive today to see if it shows up later.

You have a PSCM and a DSP that you've already done. I know why the DSP is still in the list, but don't understand why your PSCM hasn't cleared yet. You aren't showing the GWM that I got this morning.

Well I know this is a FDRS thread...but after that GWM update showed up in FDRS this morning I thought it would be interesting to see if I could get it to download OTA to see what version it is.

As shown above I saw the "heads-up" notification that the OTA for the GWM was queued up so I took a trip into town to let it download. I stopped about halfway at a light and checked and it did indeed say an update was downloading. So I did a bit of shopping and came out and checked and it said the update had completed successfully (it was not an inhibit update BTW).

You can see the notes above from the OTA dashboard and they are the same notes that have come out for a previous update.

My GWM software revision went from "-LMB" to "-LMC".

I suspect that some of these updates, like the lists of all the powertrain updates that many people have showing as available, will have to get updated before these newer gateway updates show up due to possible software dependency issues.

The update notes in the Sync screen at the bottom said that this update is "Priority Update 23-PU0503-CON-FX" if that means anything to anybody.

21 Jun 23, and two new updates for the Lightning showed up today when I checked; a PCM and BECM.

(The DSP and FHCM were released earlier, see above).

I'll pull the truck in tomorrow and get those knocked out and see about updating that pesky DSP again to see if it might clear.
