The closest you'll get to something robust and usable is to trade it for a Tesla. I'll go on record that just because they move to Android Auto - about 95% of the wish list still will not be filled. It just isn't in the legacy makers to understand current wishes and needs and to deliver a product that is usable.

How about simply updating the maps so that they are current?
I just ask "Ford" to find me the nearest Walmart and it did not know there was one a mile away and tried to take me 7 miles in the wrong direction. Looking for an AT&T store it took me to a smoke shop that has been there since well before COVID. So the maps are 4-5 years out of date, or more.

Ford's maps are older than that. The road my camp is on in Maine was re-routed over 75 years ago. The Ford map shows the old route, which is now a forest wtih 75-year-old trees.

The screenshot is from the app “A Better Route Planner” which is commonly abbreviated ABRP. The premium version works over CarPlay and Android Auto. It communicates with the car through an OBDII Bluetooth connector to get real time consumption from the truck and tunes you profile to match your trucks actual consumption, which helps of you have aftermarket mods or commonly tow the same trailer.

We can start with a screenshot of the best I have found to date.
1) Auto plans routes, with charging stops, including whichever networks you want to use and excluding those you don’t
2) Dramatically more accurate prediction of state of charge at arrival to charger, displayed front and center, along with current state of charge with both updating in real time
3) Show the status of the next charger in the route. Number of stalls, how many available, charger speed rating, updated frequently.
4) Both Speed limit and current speed
5) Satellite view as an option is nice to have
6) ETA, time and distance left for both next stop and final destination
7) Exit information
8) Traffic, weather, elevation and speed factored in and updated frequently

9) Define state of charge target for stops and for destination. Define max state of charge to charge to at stops for planning.
10) Make it easy to choose alternate chargers to those in the plan (ARBP needs improvement here)

13) Ability to review alternate routes, with summary data and choose preferred route.

They cannot make it happen, and if they added everything... we would want more, or something different.

My opinion, not that you asked, is Ford and other car MFG's should get out of the mapping and other software businesses. How much money do they spend on software, how much bad press do they get for getting wrong. Do they get any praise when they get it right? Some software they need to manage (OTA updates, Sync system, ODBII) spend the Time/Money to make these things flawless. Let others focus on a "Me too" product like navigation.

I don't believe there is much hope for the existing platform. The best hope was the investment in Rivian. I'm a Farley fan but I don't understand that decision.
