That is also another small nit on the app - you should be able to look at the app and know if it locked or unlocked.

When I use the app to lock the truck, it shows a green circle with white check mark and reads Doors Locked.

close your app and toss it off the screen (if using ) not sure how to do that on Android. Then open the app back up and see if you can determine if your truck is locked or unlocked. Really more of the check of is it locked or not? Or has someone else driven it and it is parked and did they lock it?

I loved the Drone Mobile system I had on my last vehicle that didn't have FordPass. You could see if the doors were locked, if the doors were open, the inside temperature and set a geofence up. Did everything Fordpass does, except fuel level, but better.

Just checking but you do know thathou don't need to use your key fob right? F150's version of what you're asking for is just to touch the door handle as you leave. As long as you have your key fob on you, all the doors will lock.

Just hold down the lock icon again. Without looking I guess we really don’t know. I have hit the button and while the icon circle is marking time I’ve heard the locks click. But if not verified, I really wouldn’t know.

I've got an XLT 311a coming. for the past 10 years, I have left the key in my truck ignition whenever my truck is parked in the garage or in the driveway. Will I have to take the key FOB out of the Lightning?

It would be really annoying if my truck locked itself inside my garage whenever I removed the FOB.

You are in luck - the truck does not autolock when you walk away with the fob.

Lazy and forgetful folks like myself appreciate autolocking when walking away from our vehicles - my past BMW, current Honda all automatically locks when you walk away with the fob.

…and, at least on my Honda, it’s an Optional setting for each driver configuration….I like it and set it ’On’, my wife hates it and leaves her’s ‘Off’. The convenience of choice…..

It does show the locked/unlocked status - so it is in the API and data stream. I'm glad we've got third parties, but would be a simple update to the production app.

They know there is a market, they also know they don't have a competitor right now so they do nothing. They'll attempt to poorly implement when Tesla starts competing and they feel pressure.

Hell, they could charge for it and I would pay. I find the feature very convenient on my MME. And it's all software.

Followed the widget thread. TL;DR and jumped to end with late 2022 comments. Sounds like people using it have been locked out of Ford Pass.

The good news for this thread. Walk away lock was announced for all 2024 Lightnings in the Blacked out Lightning. Noted that it would be available for '22 and '23 in a SW update.
