There is enough evidence out there to point to the fact it doesn't operate well in the heat. I bought an Emporia and haven't had an issue with charge rate since.
Not to discredit your evidence (I don't doubt it), but my experience with the portable Ford charger is in an air conditioned garage for about 16 months of use. The garage does not get over 80 degrees. I also measured temps with a heat gun at all points, including the 240V plug. Nothing over 100 degrees if I recall correctly.

So heat may be an issue but it is not the only issue. I suspect there is some weak link within the charger that is overheating, and my heat gun could not pick it up through the casing. A small but hot connection that does not make the whole box hot?

It did it within 10 minutes at the dealership but this time the orange light came on.
Whatever is tripping the temperature sensor must be internal to the MPC. It is covered under the bumper to bumper Warranty. The claim is filed… now we wait.

Awesome, thanks for letting us know the outcome (too many posters don't). Might I suggest you edit your first post (and even title) adding the outcome? Could help others in the future ;)

Yeah 80 degrees wouldn't cause it to overheat. When I say heat, I mean anything above 90. Several people on this forum went through something similar before buying another one. I also question its ability to be used every day for an extended period of time. Obviously not as sturdy as the third party units.

Updated:

It took a while but the replacement charger came in this week. It looks lightly different (more blacks and grays with less blues and whites) and it has a black handle instead of a white one. Either way it worked wonderfully last night holding 6.8kW for 6 hours.

Let’s hope the new versions of this are robust enough to handle daily charging so I don’t have to buy one for the garage.
