My 2022 Lariat Extended Range has the clear lights in the tailgate issue with condensation and them not working. We took it in prior to 36/36 but they didn't fix it and now at 37K miles won't fix it and want $1700...
The truck was a mannequin and should have the 42/42 but the dealer didn't mark it properly and somehow my ESP with the light coverage also didn't cover it.

I've opened a case with customer service, a case with NHTSA and BBB for dealer and Ford as this shouldn't be an issue.
Not sure why my VIN is under the recall, dealer should have marked in a mannequin and the ESP should have covered it but I've hit the trifecta of coverage denied...

Hoping someone has the ability to look into the systems as I know these demo trucks were tracked by corporate.
Here's my VIN 1FT6W1EV6NWG02084 (under 3K which usually also identifies as a demo)
Hopefully someone can help this is FRUSTRATING....

Update - apparently the recall was done last year at another dealer and the light bar is having the same issue.. :(
ESP won't cover the part number for the rear light bar which is $700

Unfortunately several members have had multiple tailgate light bars replaced for this situation.

BTW: your truck was on my auto trader tracking project while it was in production:

What's the 42/42 warranty? Never heard of that.
6 month extension granted on many demonstrators with substantial mileage on sale to first original customer.

Ahh. My mannequin was 22 months old but only 4k miles, so that's probably why there wasn't an extra warranty offered.

They all are supposed to have the warranty, the dealer has to just identify it in the systems (whichever that is)

Thread hijack alert: I have an inkling as to what the term "mannequin" means in this context, but can someone point me to a clear definition? I have a '22 which I bought gently used from a dealer - I thought it was a dealer demo car, or maybe the dealer owner's car or something, but now thinking it is a mannequin. Can you tell by vin? And other than that 42/42 is there any other differences to note?

No you can't tell by VIN per my post, that's what's causing my issues.
The dealer would have known it was a demo/mannequin that they couldn't sell for 6 months and flagged it with Ford giving the owner 42/42 vs 36/36

Yup, sounds like mine, and I'm in the same boat as you - "how do I tell if Ford labeled it a "Demo" truck. Slightly off topic, Are all Lightnings painted white under the hood/frunk?

Mannequins are what we call the first batch of Lightnings sent to dealers as demos. Dealers were not allowed to sell them for 6 months. It seems a lot of them are Lariat ER with max tow, spray in liner, and a premium paint color.

Mine was built 4/22 in the first five days of production (production started 4/26/22).

A mannequin is a vehicle that the dealer is allowed to use as a demo or loaner, but cannot be sold for a given number of days or miles.

When a dealer makes a vehicle a demo that is the in-service date for warranty purposes. If Carfax shows that it wasn't first sold until some time after that I'd think it may have been a demo. Some states though require dealers to title demos to themselves, so that would should up as a sale when it went in service.

Part of the problem is that Ford does not always know if a truck was a mannequin or not. Many dealerships received a few trucks in their first shipments and were told they needed to keep one or two for demo and display purposes as "mannequins". These get registered with Ford. And Some of them were swapped out with another in inventory if a customer really wanted to buy the specific mannequin configuration. We all know how well dealerships handle paperwork beyond the minimum required purchase agreements. So the swaps happen, but the registered mannequin with Ford doesn't get changed. Or even if it does, when the mannequin finally sells, the dealership doesn't make the necessary filing so the extra warranty isn't put into place.

It also doesn't help that many of these mannequin units had to be sold as used vehicles due to mileage and that changes how they get entered into the system. Even if the dealership never sold them to anyone prior, nor registered them to themselves.

I find it rather disconcerting that the Ford ESP warranty won't cover this fix -- especially since it was already a recall/ warranty issue. There seems to be quite a few reports of all sorts of issues where the Ford ESP's won't cover things. Makes me wonder why I'd want to buy their warranty product. I'm hoping I don't have to use mine.

Extended warranty or not, I think there's reasonable grounds that Ford should have to attempt the fix again due to it being a recall issue. However, as it's been pointed out, it seems many have had the recall work done and it does not fix the problem.
