New OTA last night charged to 100% last night when I have it set to 85%. Hopped in the truck and it was at 236 dte. Pro sr. I’ve never seen over 220 even in the summer when my trip was 2.2-2.3. Current trip is at 1.5 kwh. Glitch or we get gifted more range? Priority update 22-pu1009-mil-dte

The battery didn’t get bigger so 98kWh*1.5mi/kWh=147 miles.

Just a more optimistic range calculator.

If you’re getting 2.2-2.3 in the summer, then just multiply by 100 and you’ll have the rough total range of the SR

This is Ford taking a lesson from Tesla. It's better to lie to the consumer so you don't have to take angry calls about people that think their battery is broken.
Correct answer. They added artificial “range” to please uninformed customers. Note, it will be accurate once you get around 50%. I just left my house at “295 miles”, drove 25 miles, and arrived at “219 miles”. Since the DTE update i consistently see over 300 miles at 100% and it drops to ~100 miles by the time i reach 50%.

They updated the algorithm to be more accurate in the winter, it was very conservative (i.e. showing too short a range). They also reset the driving history, meaning the GOM now shows the absolute maximum range.

As you drive, and put miles on it, it will adjust to your driving and current temperatures. It will take a few hundred miles to be accurate as some are reporting, AND it may still have fluctuations that people don't think make sense.

The best thing to do is to watch your My Trip and a) make sure it resets for each drive and b) use the current miles per kilowatt x your battery size for a double check.

Note that available battery will vary by temperature. A 98kW battery at 100% at 70 degrees will have around 98kW available, but at 20 degrees will have less available, and still show 100% - i.e. 100% of say 84kW. As the battery warms, more of it becomes available. In short, cold batteries hold less power than warm batteries.

They updated the algorithm to be more accurate in the winter
I've had this update for a few weeks now. It reset my stats, so I waited until I had a few 200 mile cold weather trips under my belt before saying anything about it.

The quoted statement is false.

The original algorithm was extremely accurate. The new algorithm seems to be complete lies designed to stop customers from complaining to the dealer when the truck doesn't "charge to full range".

I've taken over a dozen 200 mile trips in my ER Lariat in below freezing temps. The truck has ~220 mile range in those conditions with my route and driving style. In the past when I charged to 100% and preconditioned , the truck would tell me that I had 220 miles of range, and I'd have between 8 and 12 miles of range remaining at the end of my round trip.

Now if I charge to 100% and precondition it will tell me that I have 322 miles of range when I leave. It doesn't start giving an accurate remaining range figure until the battery is below 50% capacity.

The worst thing about this is that you might think you have range to spare and put your foot down. Then you get to 48% battery left and the truck lets you know that you're not going to make it home unless you stop to charge.

I WANT THE OLD ALGORITHM BACK.

That's some interesting definition of "better" that I was previously unaware of.

You know what would actually be better? Setting customer's expectations correctly so you don't have to take angry calls from people AND you don't have to make your product function poorly.

That said, my old F-350 had 25 gallons of fuel above the halfway point on the gauge, and 13 below it. So there really isn't much new under the sun I guess.
