New Flash Delivered and Now Won’t Start or Shift

I apologize if there is a thread somewhere else that will help but here is issue…and note this is 3rd party info as I was unable to be at delivery but my wife was there.

Brand new Flash that I believe was manufactured in October 24 based on the sticker and was delivered to dealer lot on October 28th. Finally closed the deal and they agreed to deliver the car by driving it to our house approximately 180 miles from the dealer. I have advised the dealer that we will not take official delivery until we inspect the truck upon delivery to our house and the agreed. I have an email from them saying as much.

Now the problem…all looked good with the truck so my wife went to test drive it. She got in the truck with foot on break and pressed the start and the truck has power but it will not shift out of Park. The driver who delivered the truck could also not get it started. Thpic below was the only idiot lights on dash.

They disconnected the battery and re-connected still no go. The called their service who called then called a Ford mobile tech who came and replaced the 12v battery and still no go. Tech told driver that he thinks it is the HVB,. My wife had to leave so I’m hearing this info from my son. Getting ready to call the GM of dealer but was wondering if there is something simple and stupid that we can try before I tell him to give me a different truck.

😧 doesn’t sound promising. It may be a simple issue, but if it was the dreaded battery module failure you should be getting a Drive train malfunction message in the dash.

Just spoke to dealership GM. Apparently the mobile tech didn’t have his diagnostic computer with him as they are short one and happened to be the tech they sent. The tech is from a dealer more local to me that the out of state dealer has a relationship. So they are towing the truck to the local dealer. Until we have diagnostic, hard to make a decision but GM advised that if a major issue, they will take truck back and find me a like kind, etc. We will see.

An update on the build date….apparently it was the first week of August.

I might be a little late to mention this but make sure they get a flat bed to tow the truck. In case you didn't know, Ford recommends it since our trucks have one motor at each axle. Towing with one set of wheels on the ground can cause damage to the one motor attached to those wheels.

Good luck with the truck. Not a fun start.

Good move not taking delivery. Any competent dealership would have made it right if you had but at this point it's their problem, not your problem.

No prob. Here's the manual mentioning it if you need it. They can use dollies too.

The red battery symbol typically means you are in accessory mode, confirmed by that popup message. This occurs when you don't depress the brake pedal when pressing the Start button.

I wonder if there is an error in the brake pedal sensor area - maybe it's not seeing the brake pedal and throwing the Stop Safely message. Could look under the dash to make sure nothing came disconnected.

Thanks for the info an good thought. We have been thinking that something from the trip may have shaken something loosely connected. Does anyone know what that connector should look like? I will look for anything I can see any way.
