What % charge is the lowest that battery could be run down safely? I don't know if that was phrased right, but is there a cut off point?

Rick
At home you really shouldn't "run it down". It's designed to be plugged in when not being used and charged to the limit you set, i.e. 90% per Ford's recommendation.

Ok so, if you are driving every day and using significant range, just charge 100%, the SR is not going to give the the estimated range it shows. You best bet is to plan for no more then 180 mile range. If I had a SR it would be 100% everytime.

I just drove 4 miles up a mountain road and lost 28 miles of range if I actually trusted Ford.

Depends on daily miles driven. If 180 miles of range os not needed then no reason to charge to 100%.

Plus sounds like it's on 120V for the time being. That will be about 2MPH charging or 20 miles in 10 hours. If driving more than 20 miles a day (on average) plan on supplemental charging. Can drive 100+ miles some days, just takes a few days to recover. It's all about the average and you'll get a feel for it.

With a 98kWh battery pack (although mine never shows that much in car scanner) the difference between charging to 90% and 100% is 21 miles. Driving in town and even to other cities I have never felt the slightest bit of need to charge more than my usual 85% or more than Ford's recommendation of 90%. I do have a 32A charger, though - and would recommend hardwiring at least a 15A/220V charger which is not difficult/expensive if you have a good run from your electrical panel to the garage or are not too picky about visible conduit.

Do not let it sit at 100% or less than 20% and all should be good. On trips plan on about 150 miles between charging stops since you won't want to fast charge much above 80% since the charging speed drops. At our age, that is every other rest stop...

Staying at places with overnight charging makes it all a breeze. Right now I am in Forks, WA which is pretty remote charger-wise, and (touch wood) it is going fine. There is a Tesla charger with a magic dock that I will try out before I leave.

Thanks for all the info. Something as new as this is to me is causing a little anxiety. You guys weren't lying about how slow charging is using a regular plug. It'll have to do till I rig up a faster charger. I'm working on the important stuff now, setting the radio pre sets. Is there a way to remove off the screen the GPS until I need it? On my screen it's a strip on the right side of the screen. This is my around town truck so I will probably not need it too often.

Thanks again,
Rick

on the XLT and Pro, you have a main app and a sub app. Some main apps will have a full-screen button in the upper left, but not all. Navigation can, but you already said you don't need it. Carplay and android auto can as well. The sub-screen app can be switched between several options. There are little up and down arrows under it. I like using it for trip stats, or sometimes the bed camera, or the offroad screen if for no other reason than it's kind of cool.

Personally, I usually have a carplay map up with traffic on the main and the audio controls on the sub.

Just a non tech note, I have the antimatter blue paint and for about 5 minutes the sun was out, wow what a beautiful color. The pinpoint metal flake really looked nice. I always thought that the Ford paint jobs were better than Chevy. If the sun ever comes out again I'll put a good coat of something I have in the garage.
