My Sync screens says all updates are updated at 3.1.

A month connected to WiFi and still nothing.

I am going to take her into the dealership to find out why.
Let us know if that works, I am stuck on 3.1 as well. Have tried everything from these forums and it wont update.
Hoping the dealer has luck with yours. I'll take it in then.

Anybody tried troubleshooting with Ford Customer Service chat? Wondering if they have the ability to remotely view status and re-push updates and such.

It is true that the notification on FORD PASS disappears after a period of time. All Ford Pass says at this point is that I have no active alerts with a green check mark over a green circle, and "You have no active alerts", previously this showed a summary of the most recent update.

The snap shot in post 9 was from the trucks Sync screen, showing version 3.4, this was done 8/16.

My truck updated sequentially from 3.1 over the course of 12 days from when I took delivery, this is what it showed on delivery day 8/4
The Sync screen will always show the version of Sync you are on. It tells you nothing about OTA (Power Up) updates.

The screen that shows you the Power Up updates will eventually say "you are up to date". You won't know what the last update was, nor are you "up to date", although you have no pending queued up updates.

You CAN log into Ford.com on a PC, and view what the last OTA update was by looking at the code on the page. There's a hack around that explains that.

Any dealer-applied updates don't show up anywhere. However, if they update Sync, it of course does change the version.

But it is true that if anything updates it comes through a Power Up correct? Or are there updates passing through we don't know about?
There are no OTA updates that come through that you don't know about.

Anybody tried troubleshooting with Ford Customer Service chat? Wondering if they have the ability to remotely view status and re-push updates and such.
They do not. Updates have to be queued up somewhere at HQ. There have been situations where a problem was resolved by HQ queuing up an OTA update(s) for a specific vehicle, but they are very rare.

Edit - this is my experience after 14 months with two different Mach-Es. It's possible that with the F-150L Ford may change things, but I suspect not.

Also, note that there seem to be many different versions of Sync. I had a 2021 fully updated on every module and Sync, and then got a 2022 right after. One had Sync 21297_Product revision 253, the other had 22095_Product revison 421. Guess which one had the higher number. Yup, the 2021.

Also, let's clear up some things.

- Connecting my vehicle to WiFi ensures I'll get updated soon, vs. celluar. False. In fact, most if not all of the Mach-E updates have been over cellular. This may change in the future.

- Clicking on Update Now is just like Windows on my PC, or my cellphone. False. Clicking on Update Now will apply any update that was ready for your car, and downloaded, but not yet applied because you had Automatic Updates turned off.

- Setting up a 7 day per week schedule for updates ensures my car will get updates quicker. False. This just ensures that IF an update REQUIRES the car be immobile, it gets applied automatically at the set time (like 1AM) vs. you having to hit Update Now and then finding out you can't drive for 40 minutes (a few updates require this).

- Driving your vehicle has no impact on receiving updates. False. Some Mach-E owners have proven this by driving and immediately receiving an update. That doesn't mean that by driving every day you'll get an update as soon as it's ready though. I found that starting my car, and not driving, did the same thing.

- Update are rolled out to all the vehicles at the same time. False. It can take weeks, or even months, for everyone to get a particular update. So thinking your are "stuck" is likely not correct. Your dealership can look online without your vehicle and tell you if has an OTA update queued up.

Here are the steps to see what the last update was.

Open Ford.com on your computer's browser, and sign in. Click on Vehicle Dashboard.
Right click, and left click on "Inspect".
Click on Network at the top.
Right click in the left bar where it shows the vehicle, and left click on Reload.
Pick the line that has your VIN in it (there may be more than one) and click on it.
Expand all the lines on the right by clicking on lines with arrows.

Here's the info I can get from my Mach-E today:

My last update was on 8/5, and it was 3.3.1, and was about Alexa and tweaking the HVAC screens. It also gave me Dual Phone capability. Of course, that's not explained.

For how much ford talked about OTA updates improving the truck each month, it's been crickets. While newbie rivian is pushing out key updates each month.

That's kinda what inspired the thread, Ford is pushing to compete and I'm down for the ride

There's an xhr request to a firmware-update service on the page. The response for mine doesn't really provide any insights on updates though.

Found this on another forum explaining the various aggregateStatus values:

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/bluecruise-ota-status.4501/post-198102

  • "request_delivery_queued": an update is available for your truck (even though your truck will say that it's 'up to date' at this point), but I don't think anything is actually happening yet.
  • "request_delivery_in_progress": the truck has asked to start downloading the update. I think the truck needs to be prodded to move from the last status to this one - a full sync cycle (off and driver door open then power back on) did the trick for me sometimes.
  • "artifact_retrieval_in_progress": the truck is downloading the update - I'm curious what happens if you switch from wifi to cellular during this status. I did it once and it seemed to take longer, but it was also 2.5.1 which is a big one.
  • "installation_queued": the update has been downloaded and is waiting to be installed. For the inhibit updates, this is where you can manually chose update now or wait for the scheduled update. For the non-inhibit updates, I recommend a full sync cycle to bump the truck to the next status.
  • "deploying": update is being installed, and you may notice a sync reset.
  • "success": update is completely installed and you will get the notification from the truck and Ford Pass of the successful update.
