Safety Recall 24S76 - Certain 2023-2024 F-150 Lightning Battery Electric Vehicles - Upper Control Arm Ball Joint Nut Replacement

Okay, so NOW the full recall has been released as of this morning (5 Feb '25). Number of vehicles went down by 2 (I assume they've already fixed those as part of the validation) to 11,291.

The date range was expanded by a day on either side of the original range, so that's now 5 November '23 to 13 February '24 inclusive.

Every one of the trucks are going to get something. Meaning when they do a torque check to find out if the nut meets the check spec...even if it passes the nuts are replaced anyway. If it doesn't pass the initial check the whole steering knuckle gets replaced.

Had this done by mobile service today, at least the inspection. Torque checked out and the nuts were replaced.

Also on the plus side, the tech agreed to update my BCM so I now have walk away lock.

Same for me on the recall, but I already had the walk away lock.

I took my 2024 Flash in on Feb 12 as it was in the recall window. The mechanic that finally checked it out met me out front and assured me - with a huge smile- not to worry that he inspected it and deemed it ok to drive. No worries. He seemed to think it was kind of funny, even though loss of control while driving is anything but a laughing matter.

They told me that they ordered two bolts; I guess one for each side. No mention of torquing the nuts or anything like that. My Flash is a Dec. 2023 build. I haven't heard from them yet.

Well my nuts were loose. Have to go back when they get the parts. Service advisor mentioned the fix was listed as taking 3 hours so we'll see how long it takes them.
