I had some time to kill between appointments yesterday and was near the Ford dealership I bought my Lightning at. I drove around to see what the inventory looked like. There were lots of ICE trucks and suvs but not one Lightning. Is that typical?

My local dealer said last year they had 14 or 15 on the lot at any time. This year they have 2.

Ford has cutback production to keep this supply smaller. Holds the price up. Less discounted vehicles. My 2 cents...

There is no "typical". Dealers have inventory based on a lot of factors, including their allotments. Simply go to Ford.com and you'll see inventory. There are 43 within 20 miles of me, all 2025s.

Just got my buyback approved. Looking around and there are none in my city either. This truck was a total bust for them. I’m sure the dealers don’t want them rotting on the lots anymore.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience but it's not. It truly is a great truck.
We'll have to see what this year brings. They've sold over 7000 units in q1, down 7.2 percent but March sales were higher than last year.

Great truck, just to expensive. They can lower prices and will stay make a killing. Sad sad sad.

I guess 4 billion dollar loss is what? If not a bust. lol. Don’t get your panties in a bunch because of a vehicle forum.
Did you expect the cost of production to be free? I have edited my post to be less snarky and provide some real data. Time will tell.

I love the truck. I’m looking for another one after they take my current one. But there are none anywhere because of the amount of money ford is losing and the dealers can’t move them.

They're still stocking at the regional pools, but that model is shifting again, so you may see more stock on lot in the near future.

I agree. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Software, and battery module failures are plaguing it though

The dealer in my area and the dealer in a brother's area both actively discouraged people from buying Lightnings and redirect them to ICEs. I think some dealers are sabotaging the Lightning.

I told my sales rep I was getting a buyback and asked him what they had. He told me yeah a lot of them are having problems. Get a Raptor instead.

I think this complaint about software is hugely misplaced. The only real argument that can be made is Bluecruise, but frankly anyone who buys a truck for what it could possibly provide instead of what has when you buy it is a failure of the consumer, not the manufacture. Aside from that the only functional improvement I have recieved is EV routing with Android Auto, itself hardly a big feature when ABRP still does it better.

Yes, Tesla has a better way to do this, and I'm sure the Fart noises are a big hit, but aside from that Tesla takes away as much as it gives. Yes, FSD is better at updates, as should be expected for EIGHT THOUSAND dollars.

I bought my truck for what it could do when I bought it. If you buy a $70,000 truck for what it might be instead of what it is then that's a you problem, not a them problem. And no matter what the software is a miniscule component of that the vehicle provides.

I’m more talking about having to constantly remove the 12v battery to reset it to get things to work. But yes if they advertise software updates to make your vehicle better over time. Then they should send those updates and not make us hack our trucks with cables and software to match what others with the same vehicle have.
