Been reading about the benefits of Sport mode.. problem is I can't get it to stay in sport mode once I park and restart.

But yesterday I couldn't even find sport mode.
Stopped the truck and when I went to choose all I had was normal mode.

Known glitch. Reboot Sync or restart vehicle.

Each time you restart you need to tell it to stay in Sport Mode.

Yes after 2 restarts the 4 different modes appeared.

What update will allow it to stay / default to sport mode so I don't have to do it 5 times a day in my travels?

I've had that happen, it went away after a reboot.
I keep hearing there is/will be an update that enables long term selection, but I'm not aware of it yet.

They had to drop the feature because of off road mode staying enabled with no traction control. It was a regulatory recall.
My Mach-E retains the driving mode last used. The Lightning used to. Then it was realized that Off-Road mode had the above issue. So, instead of programming it so that all modes stay locked EXCEPT Off-Road mode, it always reverts back unless you catch the prompt quick enough. Very annoying.

This is the annoying part to me. It's like the NHTSA regulation that requires ABS/Traction Control be active upon vehicle startup only really is against Off-Road mode. So it should only default back to Normal if you were in Off-Road when you turned the vehicle off. I'm not positive but I also feel like it stays in tow haul mode if you have a trailer connected.

It's may be achievable but not publicized that you can make some forscan changes to get sport mode to stick. I imagine if you compare an as-built file with that specific update that leaves sport mode against the later updates that defaults it to normal, you can find the respective lines of code. I remember have the sport mode feature with an update and it was somewhat quickly patched, I wish I'd of grabbed of backup with forscan at the time.

It sucks we don't have more control to fine tune the driving preference. My brother had a GTI that he can independently set suspension, throttle response, steering level effort.. and that was like a 2015 maybe? I just want the throttle response and braking level of sport mode and the steering level of normal mode, that's be ideal preference.

It was an APIM module update that allowed stickiness (6.3.0) and a month later another APIM update that reverted to original behavior (23-PU1103-NAT-VCE aka 6.2 re-release).

I have as-builts before and after each of those updates. There were no APIM settings that were reversed to a prior setting, just a couple of small changes that stayed. The only other as-built changes during this period were for the IPMA and GWM modules.

FORScan is only changing a parameter table that the module firmware references when executing it's code. Based on the above, my bet is Ford changed firmware code each time and there is not a controlling parameter (or if there is a parameter the firmware code ignores it).

I guess I spoke too soon.
Upon starting up the lightning Flash, I've got 3 seconds to push ok on the steering wheel and allow the Sport mode to remain. If you're slow and don't confirm it, you'll default to normal mode.

I have had Ford reach out on twitter , and forums in the past. They do nothing to actually help resolve issues which is sad. Good luck.. the sport mode thing and a slew of other things are super annoying with the trucks software.
