If it works like the Bronco, there's an order window. For Bronco, it was ~2 months.

So, the people who are invited to order within that window aren't really penalized or rewarded for when they order within that window.

So, if someone just reserved yesterday, but they order the very first second the order window opens, and someone who reserved the first minute of the debut event orders the last second of the order window, the person with the early reservation still takes precedent... as long as he orders within the same order window.

That's my understanding, anyway. Date of order within a single order window is not substantially meaningful. Basically, there's no rush to be the first person to order within the order window.
That makes a lot of sense !
Thanks for clarifying questions I have had about the reservation number vs ordering priority.

Does Ford have a figure about the number of people who placed their initial deposits and how many will actually order after this many months ??

No problem. Just to be clear, that's how the Bronco system worked. Ford has suggested it may change some for Lightning. For instance, I think they suggested that there may be smaller groups of reservations that are allowed to order in each window. So, perhaps someone who reserves today might not even be allowed to order in the first order window with the early reservation holders. Not sure.

Ford's estimators are apparently not very good at their jobs since they keep drastically underestimating demand for the Mach E, Lightning, Bronco, etc. (At least according to press releases about how surprised they are by demand).

66% of reservations were converted to orders for early Broncos, if I remember correctly. I kind of expect Lightning to be lower because there are other competitors coming out and many Lightning reservation holders have multiple truck reservations. Also, the block on Extended Range Pros might hurt a little. People who saw the $39k number and then find out that the cheapest extended range Lightning is actually $20k (50%) more than that.

We'll see!

Based on the Bronco and Mach-e, it is around 60% to 65%. That said, the Lightning is a different animal and people are projecting both much higher and much lower than that. At this point there is no way to really know.

So your dealer contacted you about a week after the October 26th date became public. I am using this as a guideline on how good my dealer is. I have contacted my dealer's rep multiple times since May 19th after my reservation for up to date info. He always says "Let me know if there is anything you need". I always say "Let me know the minute you have specific details on when the order window opens and how the process works so I can have my deposit ready". To date he has not contacted me. That is concerning for me and as more time goes by a reason to change dealers.
I work for a dealer and we weren't even made aware by Ford that ordering is opening up until I found a little notification on our locator page saying we need to set dealer pricing.

I attached pic for reference. Ford has not been keeping dealers aware of what is going on and the public is finding things out before we even know which is sad. I have a reservation and doubt I will see mine this coming year as the unit count expected is going to be the 15k total units but who knows.

Ford F-150 Lightning October 26 is apparently NOT when 2022 F-150 Lightning ordering begins (order bank opens) dfadf.JPG

This sounds good unless what I read in another recent thread is actually true - that on the Lightning Ford is making the invoice equal to the MSRP. Lots of dealers will order Lightnings for MSRP. Here is the thread post and a comment from another forum member verifying that post:

Correct, on Lightning MSRP = Invoice. This was communicated to us about a week ago.”
Sounds like I should be happy my local dealer is selling at "MSRP" then huh? Won't find anything under msrp/invoice by hunting out of town I figure?

You might, but I'd imagine the margins are tight enough on the dealers that the amount you save probably isn't worth the hassle of buying out of state.

@Granger Ford in Iowa is selling at $1000 below invoice which is still a good deal even if invoice = MSRP.

Great deal for anyone close by! However, after the cost of travel to get to the dealer, then the total amount of roundtrip travel time...probably isn't worth it for anyone further than 200 miles away.

I tried emailing my dealer here in Bellingham WA and also further south in Burlington this AM; not response yet. Doesn't seem like a lot of WA folks on this forum. I'd be fine driving down to Oregon, maybe Idaho.

I'm going to rent an F150 before Oct 26 to get a feel for the thing.

Losi, do you have a Ford van? My Transit driver side window won't auto roll up since about 6 months into ownership. I never bothered to have it fixed. Took the door apart and never figured out if the switch is busted or its somehow triggering the safety that keeps you from closing a window on your arm (but that in my case causes the window to keep stopping every few inches). Van has been great otherwise.
Open the window. Now close it with the switch, and hold the switch for a few seconds (5) after it fully closes. Open it and do the same thing, hold the switch even after it goes all the way down. This should calibrate the auto close feature.

Yep, it made more financial sense when there was a several thousand dollar difference between Invoice and MSRP (i.e. Bronco) but their communication and openness has earned my business for the Lightning (and I still come out a few dollars ahead).

My reservation is with @Granger right now. I asked them if it is true that MSRP = Invoice on the Lightning. They replied that invoice will be less than MSRP. I don't know what to believe right now. As @BennyTheBeaver said, it isn't worth it to me to travel from Arizona to Iowa only for a $1,000 discount. (For what it is worth, I was under the impression Granger didn't charge the D&D $1,695 fee based on one of their posts. However, they confirmed that the D&D fee is in the price paid.) I guess I will find out when the order bank opens.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, and of course my ignorance on this - but will we see the final pricing and available option packages at some date prior to the order bank opening, or is that info and the ordering all one in the same on 10/26? Just curious from those of you who waited for other Ford order dates in the past, like MME/Bronco?
