I'm about middle of the pack of reservations... if that even means anything anymore. So no, you are correct, I am unaffected.

But the thing is, it's not just affecting one guy. It's the entire first year of production worth of reservations in all. Ford should have said for the average folk it would be 2023 because of their stupid games. That's what I have an issue with; pretending it's fair game for everyone when it isn't.

Anyway. I'm waiting till 2023 or 2024 any way you slice it. It's fun to complain I guess :) I should just go get some popcorn and enjoy the ride.

Eh, if every dealer used the priority system then it could affect the first year reservations but I bet a majority of dealers aren't going to play the game, especially to the tune of 25 priority bumps. You certainly will have some that favor certain customers who already do volume with them or others that are buddy/buddy with a few customers but I think that will be the exception and not the rule. Biggest ah-ha is the possibility for dealers to add the ADM basically up front "hey you are number 105 in our system but for $5,000 we can make you top 10. Especially once they know their 2022 allocation numbers I bet you see this more with the deep reservation lists and dealers in bigger cities like LA that can get premium so easily.

I just did some math and became a little discouraged.

There are over 3000 Ford dealerships in the United States. Let's be optimistic and say Ford will produce 20,000 Lightnings in 2021.

That means there will be an average of 6.7 trucks per dealership. That's hardly enough to give trucks to all the priority orders, not to mention regular orders

So the priority orders in theory could account for nearly every single 2021 Lightning order. That leaves hardly any chance of a Lightning in 2021... Even for those if us that placed a reservation on day 1.

Hopefully everyone's dealership doesn't give any VIPs priority and chooses to place orders based on reservation number, but the reality is a lot of people are undoubtedly going to get screwed here.
3000 dealers but how many are EV certified right now? greencarreports states 2100 are EV certified so that is closer to 9-10 per dealer and we know it won't be an even allocation. More interesting is Ford just capped their system at 200,000 reservations so that is 95 per dealer, mine has 367 while another poster above said his has 14. We know the big discount dealers probably have 1000+ so allocation will be very interesting.

If I get lucky with the first year '22 I am considering how much money I can make if I re-sell the F150L as soon as I place my deposit with the dealer - on eBay...... :eek:

Go to your account on Ford.com and your reservations/orders tab. post your reservation number here and we can surmise roughly where you are on the 200,000 list. I reserved toward the end of day one presentations and received 10826299, lowest reported around here was in the 1081XXXXX range I believe.

You have two things to manage with actually getting your truck. First is your reservation number as that will trigger Ford sending you a wave start notification. Next problem will be your dealer allocation. If they only get 10 trucks allocated for 2022 and you are 10 out of 14 then you get toward the end of the order timeline (probably means the other 9 were day 1 or before you day 2). If they only get 5 allocated then you are SOL, best bet is to discuss with your sales rep and the managers to use a priority pass due to your previous purchase and loyalty showing you deserve a bump in the line.

Alternative is moving your reservation to a bigger dealer that you can convince to use a priority pass and get you in the top 5/10/25 of their list.

It doesn't expand the allocation and it doesn't guarantee they get their order built instead of your order.
Unless I misread the Ford communication... This is in fact exactly what it means.

People who ordered later but are given a priority designation will get the chance to bump people who ordered early to have their trucks built and delivered first.

I mean... That's exactly what the message said. Why would you think that's not the case?

Dealer prioritization does not guarantee allocation.

Dealer prioritization will be an input to determine invitations to change a reservation to an order.

The messages above only means some MAY get an invite sooner than others BUT that doesn’t mean those WILL get their truck sooner. Many on this Forum have complained that due to the trim level they ordered, their build has been scheduled out. This to me sounds like a Supply issue. If Ford can’t source the parts to build the truck how can we expect them to deliver sooner than those with different trim levels. I’m going simple and try not to complicate the process.

I’m one of those “1081xxxx” guys and #1 at my dealership, which is a mostly “truck” dealership in suburban Washington, so I’ll keep you all posted on what happens on my end. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath on anything. ?

1081# guy as well (but I thought someone debunked the numbers don't mean a lot, heck if I remember) -- I got a message in with my sales guy to report back where I am in line.. will post back here again with my status in line if I get it. Sales Manager was out yesterday so I should find out sometime today.

I’m going to be that guy and say this isn’t official because it’s a leak. It was sent to dealers, not the public.

Hopefully people don’t get too worked up when this “official” info changes many more times over the next few months, but I imagine they will anyway.

Visited my dealer around Thanksgiving to "demo" a used F150 (no new one on the lot) to be sure the Lightning would fit in my garage, it will fit, but not by much...

At that time I asked the Asst. Sales Manager (inventory guy) how many Lightings they had reserved, he told me over 100 but did not know where I stood in that line, plus being the end of the month he didn't have time to look it up, but he would. (RIGHT!!!!)

Yesterday, I e-mailed him, and my sales person; I included copy of the Ford memo. I pointed out the Prioritization Process in the Ford memo and asked if I could be placed on this list. I am not the biggest or most frequent customer but I had to ask; worst they can say is no.

Got an e-mail last night, I am number Priority #1, of course he could just be saying that to get me to go away - I did tended to send e-mails with information on my Mach-e.

We will see what order waive I end up in.

Just spoke with my dealer (Chapman of Scottsdale). He said they still have no information to release regarding their reservations. He did tell me that Ford told them the total production will be 7,500 for XLT, Lariat, Platinum. Pro will be a separate number, probably same as the other trim total.

He also said no ADM on ordered trucks and at the time of order conversion they will require an additional $900 refundable deposit.

He also said that they are seeing lots of reservations movement — both in and out.

Everyone realizes prioritization has nothing to do with dealer allocation.

Where you seem to be diverging from what the Ford communication says is where it comes to who gets their trucks sooner.

The entire purpose of prioritization is to determine who gets to order their trucks sooner. Otherwise there would be no prioritization process to begin with.

Ordering sooner most certainly has a direct impact on getting the trucks sooner since somebody who orders in January will have an earlier build date than somebody who orders in march. Ordering earlier virtually guarantees earlier delivery.

Supply chain issues could limit production of specific trim levels... But as mentioned in the Ford communication that should be less of an issue than with the Bronco due to this new ordering process.

If a certain trim is unable to be offered at the time somebody places an order, Ford will disable that trim or option on the ordering website.

This means nobody, in theory, should be able to complete the ordering process only to find out later their truck will be delayed due to supply chain issues. I guess anything is possible, but this should make that unlikely.

We're all gonna need a little bit of lube before this is over. Just try to enjoy it, as it is a first world problem. No one needs an EV truck - so lets please check the whining and complaints about dealerships stealing our hard earned money.

We are dealing with the height of luxury here folks - eagerly anticipating buying new technology at the peak of man's historical evolution. 100 years ago folks did not have toilet paper and most houses were not electrified. Even today, in much of the world there is no indoor plumbing. I've squatted over a lot of pit toilets in the past five years. That profile picture is in a spot many miles from the nearest paved road, zero electrical grid in the region. We are reserving cooled massaging seats here...
