Im a 2022MY extended reservation holder that recently got the invite email and price protection. My local dealership is charging a $2500 ADM (its not on the ford ordering site but a visit to the dealership and speaking to sales managers and General Manager confirms they will add it in once the order comes through.)
Dealership knows im not paying ADM, and they know the dealership 15 mins away will sell at MSRP. They claim they will speak to the Ford area rep to get my invite/reservation released, but so far hasnt. I called Ford CS and they cant release the invite (they tried and it wouldnt let them).
Would you order from the Ford site showing no ADM and then fight it out with the dealership? Or wait it out and hope the dealer/ford rep can/will release the invite from their grips?
I was firm but polite with the GM when i visited on Friday, but we are at a stalemate. The Ford email states to "order by 9/5", im not sure if i should chance it or let it ride.

I would order and go from there if it were me. A few months wait will give you plenty of time for bad PR if they don't relent. It isn't a good look for them considering the dealership close by isn't charging it.

Why don’t you move your order to the dealer not charging ADM? If you got your order invite, you are in line. Ford CS can move it for you.

They cannot move it. I called last week and the CS said they cannot move it. They tried while i was on the phone and she could not do it. Even though the Ford email says "to change dealerships call Ford CS.. blah blah blah"... In this wave of invites they cannot move it. The dealership has to release it allegedly.

$2500 markup isn't that bad and I would order it.

Damn, with that in mind I think I would just stomach the $2,500 but that’s a personal choice. The truck is worth it but do you also have another EV truck reservation? You could always ride it out and make the final call when it comes but get their ADM in writing so they don’t increase it on you.

I do have a CT reservation from the first week of announcement. When that will happen who knows.

Order it if you really want one as you’re out of time and going to lose your spot. Negotiate where there’s no additional doc fee and see about getting a tonneau cover or some other accessories you’d want thrown in. On the bright side, you’re getting price protection from the ‘23 model year increase.

I’d place the order. The $2500 ADM sucks (I can empathize as I’m paying that exact amount in ADM), but if this invite really does expire on 9/5 you stand to lose the price protection and potentially the tex credit.

Weird that the dealer didn’t put the ADM on the ordering site. That may give you some leverage when it comes time to fight.

Good luck.

Refusing to release the reservation to extort an additional markup. And this isn't considered racketeering?

Is this how it's gonna be from now on @Ford Motor Company ?

I mean is this part of the "buy-in" of the whole EV transition that Ford is hoping for?

Taking hostages?

I agree with you here. I said to The CS rep and the GM of the dealership. “If I can’t change dealerships what’s to stop from charging $5k or $10k ADM?” It’s total garbage. Especially when it’s not on the order page. If I cancel they keep the allocation (I think).

With a deadline of today, I'd place the order and then contact your regional Ford rep and escalate your request at Ford Corporate and ask them to change your dealer allocation.

With the lead times you are facing, I'd put in for a battle - not for the extra ADM, but for principal.

Dealers that charge $0 ADM online ordering and then turn around and charge after the order is placed would be outright thievery.

If the ordering page doesn’t show the ADM then I would order it and then fight it with Ford corporate solely based off of that. They should not be throwing customers any curve balls like that. What you were told and what is the official order is a completely separate thing. They know you have price protection and potentially the tax credit so they think they have leverage to squeeze you. Just go off the facts, if they don’t show it upfront, Ford shouldn’t let them get away with it.

I'd order and then fight. Good possibility that all dealers will be forced to cut ADM's on Internet submitted orders sooner rather later.

Unfortunately if you read the FAQ on the order page, it states that the final price is determined at the time of purchase and the online stuff is just an "estimate" of the selling price. Sucks and should not be allowed and Ford should punish dealers for this. Farley says he will but we haven't seen it happen.
