I just recently installed an aftermarket safe for inside the suitcase sized armrest area (similar to what comes with upper trim Lariots/Platinum)..... I have the upper trim 2023 XLT Lightning.

The safe model I installed has a cord that plugs into the stock USB port (now inside the safe) and has its own USB Port to provide a USB connection option outside the safe.... which is useful and handy.

However, now I'm constantly dealing with a pop up nag screen saying " USB device not responding" that shows up quite randomly and temporarily blocks out my nav screen ......which occasionally happens when I least want it to.

I've been through all the menus countless times and cannot for the life of me find a setting which would allow me to disable this nag screen ..... Although I'm fairly certain that it must be possible.

Does anyone know where I may be able to disable this nuisance message on a XLT (smaller screen)?

Many thanks in advance for any advice or pointers in the right direction

I can't think of any warning message that can be disabled. If it were me I'd explore other USB options.

That's an odd one, I haven't experienced issues with any USB and what you describe should be just a "dumb" cord extension and not pulling any power (truck shouldn't even know its there) unless the case itself is connecting to truck as the message you are getting indicates a "smart" two way connection - does it have a powered lock? Suggest reseat the cord, or the cord may be bad/crimped? I'd try plugging something else into that port and see if you get the same issues (in case truck port itself is bad).

Yes, it is indeed an electronic keypad entry lock. However it's battery operated and not connected to the USB port or elsewhere.

It's just a pass through connection so that I can still access a USB Port without having to open the safe.

I cant even understand how the truck even knows that anything is plugged into the usb port as its not pulling any power or communicating with anything.

It is however a cheaply priced after market safe (less than $90 shipped) ..... So it's possible that the port or wire is defective which kind of makes sense as there is no rhyme or reason when the nag screen appears ...... its completely random ..... I can go hours and even a whole day without issue .... then without any warning I'll start getting that nag screen every 15 mins or so.

I'll have to see online if there is any way to determine if the safes USB ports integrity can be determined

Try plugging something, anything, into the usb port.

Alternately try putting a usb hub between the safe and the usb port.

Or, if the safe does not require USB power then just unplug it.
