I can’t really speak for every dealer or every Situation. It’s hard because I know there honestly are dealers that will try their best just theyre not trained or experienced enough.

my OPINION is that you’ll be more frustrated than anything. The time and effort and all involved just to most likely be told they couldn’t do it is not worth it.

the money it costs to buy the parts and software to do it yourself is well worth the investment with these trucks. The updates have proven to be problem solvers and to me that is worth it alone.
You just have to decide if you want to deal with the dealer or sit at home and do it yourself at your own pace. I think the later is the best because it’s easier
Thanks for the info but I don’t feel comfortable doing it myself. I don’t even own a laptop either.
I’ll just wait for it to figure itself out and let the OTA do it’s thing.
Thanks again

Well, like many here I got my new APIM installed and received a few updates including 2.1.

  1. Now my phone pairing disappears each time I turn off the truck, so I have to repair each time I start the truck.
  2. FordPass does not keep authorization after ignition is turned off and on.
  3. Music album image doesn’t display for Bluetooth source.
  4. Approach detection is sporadic.

Hmmmmm
I was at that build and revision and did not experience those symptoms. I wonder if there are other modules that need to be "match up" to get everything to work?

I ask because when I update my APIM I am required to update my TCU as well.

Skeldog, what app is that in your screenshot?
Which one?

if it is the black one with network traffic, that is from my Eero router when I can see the device connected to my network and how much data that are using.
2 devices connect to my wifi, one is called F150 and the other is SYNC. Most of the time the F150 connects and downloads /uploads when I leave and come back home, check ford pass, etc. the SYNC device most of the time when it is downloading a big file, an update is coming but it was weird that F150 device did a big download.

I don't use the speed sign recognition, but I do want my XM to work properly again, so that's a good tradeoff for me. I'm sure everyone will be different. Guess it's too much to ask that we fix one thing without breaking another.
Yep.... Too much to ask. Got 2.3.0 yesterday. Finally. Not to burst the euphoric bubble here.. but XM (technically the radio presets) still broken... Mine started failing in December... something as simple as the right thumb on the steering wheel buttoning up/down thru the presets still has failures. Sigh.

Edit. Rut Rho. Sync is still downlevel at REV 145. Yet Power-Up is 2.3.0. Tried booting a couple of times. Maybe 2.3.0 did fix XM... I can't tell from my truck....

If it was an APIM update you might need to cycle the truck a couple of times. (shut down and open the driver's door)

If that doesn't kick it clean, soft boot the APIM? (hold the radio off button and seek-forward button simultaneously until the screen goes dark)

We tried cycling the truck and no joy.... (it's always when you're on a long trip with no nav all of a sudden) so did a boot... that allowed us to finally delete my wife's phone connection to the system and mine to work.

Mine updated today after taking my truck in for the heatshield/driveshaft recall. The dealer told me that they had to fully discharge the HEV battery before they could proceed.

When I got my truck back, was pleasantly surprised to see that I was on the latest version:

Also, my 8'' dashboard now has feature parity for Apple Maps that is standard with Sync 4 navigation. It's really quite great:

Anyone noticed the CarPlay screen is messed up ? It seems they shrunk the the resolution, exposing a black rectangle behind it. Also the Phone List at the top left is misaligned:

Ford F-150 Lightning Power-Up 2.3.0 OTA rolling out 5B76CDB6-2605-4295-84B4-17D6C10D40B9

IMHO, It looked better in previous versions of APIM

I wonder if this might explain why those that reported that they set a "schedule" for OTA suddenly succeeded at getting the APIM update, while others that did not set up a schedule haven't? If I am reading this correctly, some updates, those that would require the truck NOT to be driven while being updated, are possibly ONLY delivered if "scheduled"?
