My Lightning has been with the dealer going on 4 weeks now. Had the alert 3 times and then had to get it towed. Had the truck for about 40 days. I did the whole 12 volt battery thing and it would work for a day and eventually just stopped working. According to the service department they said it’s the charging module that is defective and causing the fault. Long story short the part is back ordered with no delivery date in site. Dealer said they are trying to expedite with Ford HQ, but they are not budging. Dealer was hoping Ford would agree to pull the part from the assembly line and ship for replacement. I could be so lucky if that happens. In the meantime I am in rental that isn’t my truck. Love the truck, but worried this could go on for 2-3 months… possibly longer. I have seen others with similar issues but none have disclosed how it went once it got to the dealer.
Hi there. I would like to look into your power loss situation on my end. Can you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer to get started?

You need to just ask your dealer (and they already likely did) to read the DTC code that is set behind the scenes. That dash message is very generic and covers many codes. It might be the same, it might be very different. No need to chase a problem that doesn't exist just because someone else had it. You need your DTC code.
my service manager said the DTC code is P0AA4:BECM

I don't know if these sites have valid information for Ford - but Google says -
Hybrid Battery Negative Contactor Circuit Stuck Closed

This sounds like the problem that the MME had that shut down sales for a bit. Pure speculation on my part.

Just got my truck back and they found nothing wrong. Will see if this comes back or not.
@GDN, Technician didn't find any DTC code.

Any update on this issue? I just got "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" error message on my XLT SR this morning. The truck drives fine and the error message eventually went away by itself but I still left the truck at dealership to get it checked out.

This would be a new one on me, if you got that message I'd say 99% you had a DTC code set. You might ask some of our FDRS friends here on the forum to check your VIN, I think it will be in the history.

The replacement parts have been in my service department since Friday. TMy service manager said I would receive my truck today, but he just informed me that the work will take longer than expected. Now they're promising me Friday, but they're already arranging to extend my rental vehicle...

Seems like a common trend. Thought they would've learned from the MME HVBJB issues but guess not. Bet they'll push a software update to monitor contactor temps and cut power instead of actually fixing the root cause. How many trucks is @Ford Motor Company going to let get stuck at dealers before doing something about this? Some MME owners are just claiming this month they received software updates on their MME after the recall was issued in late June. How the NHTSA thinks that is an appropriate timeline is beyond me.

Good video on the contactors from the MME:

Got my truck back today. Seems like extensive work has to be done to get to these junction boxes. I assume the module as a whole has to be replaced, hope @Ford Motor Company can get some useful failure analysis from the defective junction box because nothing was found to say what caused the fault. Worries me that it could happen again if the module itself is not the root cause.

So far truck feels like new driving and the first DC fast charge was successful peaking at 140kw.

I've had 3 of the same error messages sporadically in the last week, local dealer is backed up with winter tire installations...which is a joke to think this shouldn't take priority, they are trying to squeeze me in next week. I'm contacting another dealer to see what they can do in the meantime.

I'm hopeful the problem doesn't become widespread, because any mass part issue would be very difficult (impossible?) to source in short order. I'm getting flashbacks to the wait times felt by early Teslas when a part was needed, spares of certain parts just didn't exist.

The non-Lightning specific stuff is one of the big draws to the vehicle, easy repairs with plentiful parts. The Lightning specific parts are concerning.

Man some of these worry me. Granted people who have bad experiences are more likely to voice concerns over people with good experiences. I need a reliable vehicle. I truly hope these are one offs and sporadic. For those with issues I am glad to see Ford is active for the most part in repairs.

Sounds a lot like the HVBJB like the MME with AWD & GT/GTPE is experiencing.

Hopefully Ford learned not to brick and strand the customer when the contactor gets stuck like the early MME had before an OTA update.

I had one warning and it’s gone and everything is working fine now. I got it right as I was parking it in the garage. I took it out again and never noticed anything different.

Well here we go again🤬🤬 I received my MME last week after the HVBJB replacement and today just received this for the truck. Hopefully I can make it to dealer if not get it towed there and have it inspected. I will follow up soon.
#1 I have to get this towed because it will not go faster than 15 mph

Ask for the DTC code, as I said before mine didn’t impact my performance at all but did give me the same alert.
