I got this update along with the 4.1.1 update a few days ago. I also have a SR XLT so that seems to fit the pattern on who is getting updates when.

This new update is very annoying. Every time I charge it, the Lightning is giving an unrealistic DTE calculation based on ideal driving conditions.
The previous DTE calculator was much more accurate. @Ford Motor Company please bring back the previous DTE calculator. My truck shouldnā€™t assume that itā€™s going to magically be 80 degrees and that Iā€™m going to putter around town after every time I charge it.

I agree with the optimistic range. It's 15Āŗ and the GOM is estimating 280 miles with a 90% charge. Before the update the estimate was more like 210 miles. Much more realistic range from my experience in the cold weather. I would also like the previous estimates back.

So, I have not had any updates since Nov when I received PAAK. The DTE update finally downloaded this week and showed it needed to be installed. It failed every night this week when updated are scheduled and everytime I tried to manually do it. So last night I did the low voltage BMS reset "ignition on flashing the high beams 5x and pressing the brake 3x which flashes the battery instrument light 3x after a few seconds". The update failed again overnight after the auto install schedule but today after driving to work and plugging in to charge I tried it manually again and it worked, I received a ford pass message update successful. Its also showing that its going to charge to 100% ignoring this charge location preference of 90%.

Here's something fun and unexpected.

I reported here that the update finally got through because I stopped getting the message "Help us install your new Ford Power-Up" so I assumed it finally worked.

I also mentioned that I didn't actually see a message saying it worked either.

Meanwhile, I recently discovered FordPass stopped connecting, and in another thread I mentioned that I fixed it yesterday by resetting Sync by holding the radio power and right seek at the same time for 10 seconds.

Well, this morning I got the "Help us install..." alert, so apparently what really happened was that I never got the messages because FordPass wasn't connecting.

Received 100+ Help us install...messages since mid-Dec. Truck was at dealer all day yesterday and they stated it finally updated at the end of the day. Nothing in Ford pass said it was successful and don't see any difference anywhere. Truck states it's current but believe I'm still in the 3's version numbering. Can only hope the updates start flowing for us now.

The worst part is that the DTE doesn't seem to be re-learning or adjusting to driving habits, history, trip planning, etc. Just always wants to show me 320 miles at 100%.

Now, when I use the built in Nav trip planner, I have to pre-plan (or re-plan) for a closer charge stop because the optimistic DTE fools itself that it can make it to the next station at 10% SOC. Spoiler alert: it can't. I also charge about 10% more at my "last" stop so I can actually make it home.

This is silly. Is the crowd that screamed "where did my miles go???" actually satisfied with this solution??

I think most here totally agree. It's ridiculous how it went from being very accurate to needing to have a third-party app to plan a trip.

Here's a new wrinkle, after connecting to FordPass I was notified this update was available. Told it to go ahead and install. That failed...great...at least there are tons of things I can try from this thread. I get dinner, send kiddos to bed, and head back out to the truck for round 2. Turn it on and suddenly I get spammed with all kinds of notifications. Something about the diff lock failing, stop safely, service now....um...what!? Did the failed update brick it? Going to try resetting the 12v tomorrow, I'm too tired to keep mucking with it tonight. Thankfully I don't turn in my Legacy to the dealer until Friday. I'm praying a reset will make it all go away. o_O

I wish that I hadnā€™t gotten the update. I want to go back. I like the GOM estimates much better in the old version.

Quick update, I unplugged over night (Using level 1 while waiting on install of 240v outlet). Plugged back in when I left for work and let it charge all day. Got 10% over 11 hours if anyone is curious. When I got home, I unplugged and turn on accessory mode. No warning alerts...whew! I reset the BMS and have plugged back in. Going to let it get to 85% and see if it updates tonight at the scheduled time. I'll take it for a quick drive in a bit, as recommended. Fingers crossed!

What bugs me most is reading the DAILY "Help us install your new Ford Power-Up" message that doesn't actually tell you HOW to help.

If it has something to do with whether it's plugged in, the state of charge or temperature of the 12v or hight voltage battery, then tell us what to do and we'll just do it.

I've considered things like plugging in, then setting up a departure time, so the batteries are primed off house current during the update, but without specific instructions from @Ford Motor Company we have no idea what to do. I think I've had that message show up at least 30 times so far. The only reason it wasn't more was that FordPass stopped working a while ago, so I stopped getting the message until I rebooted Sync.

@IdeaOfTheDayCom

3rd trip to dealer currently, today is about day 40 over 3 visits.

at 2nd trip i let dealer know DTE FAILED 25 times. Asked to have installed, or at least attempted to see if additional problems. they did not. It now has 60+ failures to install

take it back. Sits in lot for 10pm days before they put hands on it. Oh - it needs a gateway module. Well that is their guess.

so other than one guy who posted 100 failures before install, you may have a legitimate problem.

also there is an expiration date on the updates. Not sure what that means. I believe mine is feb 26.

i Might be picking up truck today while they wait for part.

overall Iā€™m having a horrible dealership experience. All those days, even after waiting 6 weeks for appointment.

I want to avoid the dealership at all costs. I've had similar experience with my last truck sitting in their service area for over 4 months.

If there is a part involved, as long as I can safely drive it, there's no reason for it to sit on their lot.
