Purchased Lightning in 2022 before they had an EV specific warranty. If I review the documentation, it's not clear what, if anything, will not be covered if I have one vs the other.
  • Called Ford, they confirmed I have a non-EV warranty and instructed me to call the dealership as they can transfer it to an EV warranty.
  • Called Dealer and they said Ford told them they can't.
Someone has bad info, any insights by the community?

Also of note, the EV warranty is 10yr 150k miles so it's longer than the one I bought that only had 100k.

Can you link the warranty you are referring to? I was unaware there is an EV specific one.

Just so you know, the EV extended warranties do NOT include the EV battery, nor the components it works with. That warranty CANNOT be extended.

If your dealership sold you this, they should provide a full refund, since it's useless. ANYONE can cancel a warranty anytime, and get a pro-rated refund, but they'd need to get Ford to help them cancel it.

All the online dealers will be a fraction of the cost.

As with any other Ford Protect warranty, there is not just one time and mileage limit. You pick which one you want at purchase. Sounds like you are referring to the PremiumCare EV warranty. You bought the regular PremiumCare? Someone somewhere knows what to do. Maybe nothing, maybe it automatically converts. The coverage between the two is likely the same. Both are exclusionary policies. And of course the traction battery is excluded no matter what.
