Range reduction after charge.

Hi, I charged my vehicle last night and looked on the ford pass app. It said it charged to 100% with 280 mile range.
First question how do I limit the charge to 90%? I can't seem to find the right place in the ford pass app.
Second, is the mileage on the ford pass app the number of miles added. I wont be able to get over to the truck until later today to see if the truck shows something else.

You need to set your home as a location first then you can add a target charge to the truck. The truck knows when it’s “home” and thus limits the charge to whatever you set.

You can set a one-time limit in the truck also.

No, that's not the number of miles added, it's a GUESS. You should IGNORE it. In fact, you should ignore the 280 mile range number too - because that's also a GUESS. Watch your Trip Odometer (This Trip) and learn your miles per kWh in normal driving. Multiply that times the size of your battery and that's your real range. The app MAY display an accurate amount of energy added, or it may not.

The GOM (Guess-O-Meter) is a historical prediction that gets more accurate by driving, but doesn't know that you've been driving in the city for 3 months, and now you're head out on a trip, driving 80mph on a winter day.

Drive the truck until your SOC is below ideal set point, ie. 80% for goal of 90%

Then upon arriving at home, plug in, set-up the scheme using the SYNC Charging app.

Set the location for what ever the GPS identifies as your parking location, set your SOC, set your time frames if a TOU restriction is desired, save the scheme.

It should be visible in Fordpass a few seconds later.

Then you can set the target (90% recommended by Ford) right now in the truck, because the location will show up.

On public level 2 chargers, use the one-time limit.
On public fast chargers, it will default to 90%. You can lower, or raise that during the charge session.

On DCFC (Fast Chargers) it will charge to 90% unless you have set a location or changed the one-time charge limit.

Unless something has changed in Fordpass, you can't "save" DCFC locations, you need to customize the value as your needs dictate.

My EV6 allows me to set the charge limit as well. It is a option clearly marked Charge Limit in the settings, No 'one time' charge limit. Can anyone equate the setting, which is clear and concise in my other vehicles, to a setting in the Lightning?

I have 3 private locations where I can charge my truck. This is where I will charge 98% of the time. Do I have to set the charge level at each of these locations separately?

Thanks, I think it is finally getting through. Not sure of why I would want to have different levels at my private L2 chargers. Me thinks they over complicated this option.

The 90% capacity at DCFC is because on the fast charge front it slows down CONSIDERABLY. If your focus is getting in and getting out then you would not want to charge to 100%.

I'm going to assume the L2 charging is two fold. If charging at home, or at a regular location then you will want to set the charge limit to some level below 100% for battery longevity.
Conversely if charging at a new L2 charger then you are away from home and may want every bit of range.
I have nothing to back that second part up, just a guess on my part.

That does make some sense, but my three chargers are withing 4 miles of each other. I guess they can't program in every situation.
