This happened on November 11th. I just got my truck back from the body shop yesterday. Enjoy the crazy video. 50k views on Reddit. *Edit* The video is too big for the forum, so here is the Reddit link. Hopefully that's okay.

This guy was going 80 or 90 miles per hour on a country 2 lane road.

After driver finally stopped, he admitted he was going to take off but noticed I wasn't going to let him get away. He then told me to take a photo of his drivers license because he was going to leave before the police arrived. I managed to... persuade him... to stay.

Dashcam is the Blackvue DR750X-3CH Plus.

Very minor damage to the left side bumper and surrounding area. $2600 repair, fully covered by his insurance. Truck looks as good as new.

One benefit of driving one of the fastest things on the road. I can’t understand people. Glad everyone was ok and the truck got fixed.

As others have said, glad y’all are OK!
Kind of funny(not really, but can’t think of a better word right now )that he was gonna run, but no way he would outrun you!!
Lightning for the win!

Wow a 60+ year old man with 60+ year old man reflexes, maybe spend some time on a track before you buy a car you don't know how to drive and keep the speed on the track.
Douche Bag of the year awardee.
Lucky he didn't get a Darwin award, with those driving "skills".

Too bad his wife/"mother" hasn't seen the video. His Corvette days would likely be over.

No reason at all for that type of crash on wide open roads.

Glad you and your family were safe.

A more accurate statement would be the Lightning was quick, under 4 seconds zero to 60, on the fast side of equation, it tops out a 112 MPH.

The 2001 ZR6 Corvette in highest performance setup is a "quick" 4 second zero to 60, and on the "fast" side of the equations tops out at 175 MPH.

The Ford weights 6900 lbs and the Corvette weights about 3100 lbs, which is why this accident was minor for the Lightning, but could have been fatal for the unskilled Corvette driver running in a car made of aluminum, magnesium and balsa wood, and flexible-sheet molded compound (AKA, Polyester Resin).

Here is what it could have looked like if you had been in a lighter gas powered car.

Thank you.

This guy was twice or thrice divorced and not currently married. Had kids, but I don't think he was close to them. Had to make small talk while waiting 30 minutes for the police to show up.

People like this make me sick. I ran down a hit and run driver that ran a red light and took the front end off of a minivan. I pulled up and the occupants said they were ok (and others had stopped), but this guy was running fast. I was in my Tesla MYP and caught up with him as he entered the freeway. He promptly sped up to over 110MPH, but apparently that's all his Honda could muster. I was on his ass with plenty of juice left to go. I was on the phone with 911 and they told me to read off exit numbers as we passed them. A highway patrol interceptor came off an exit 10 miles down and mistimed it a bit. It took him a good 2-3 minutes to catch up with us where I backed off and the idiot finally pulled over. I sat behind the officer's patrol car waiting for the results.

He was pulled out and given a field sobriety test that he failed miserably. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the hit and run. POS had kids in in his vehicle to boot. In addition, no insurance and suspended license, but hey, the plates were current. The officer had me fill out a witness statement and told me that if they get away initially, they virtually never get busted as the owner can claim it wasn't them driving the vehicle if they can ever track them down and the DA will never pursue the hit and run. Of course the DUI wouldn't stick either.

I returned to the scene and the family that was hit was still waiting for a tow truck with the Sherriff's Deputy. I let them know that the Highway Patrol arrested the SOB as it hadn't been communicated back to the Deputy. I had to fill out a 2nd witness statement for the Deputy as it was a different jurisdiction.

Some may debate the safety of what I did by chasing someone at 110MPH, but I'm sick and tired of these asshats getting away with it over and over. This lack of responsibility is how people get hurt and why insurance rates are so high.

You are absolutely correct. This wasn't heavy traffic or getting surprised around a corner while driving too fast. Straight road, unlimited visibility, and no other traffic.

The driver was probably driving distracted or just not paying attention to what was in front of him. This is how people end up dead.

Want more entertainment of idiots, go to YouTube and look up Wham Baam TeslaCam.
