I’m certain it was an internal failure. Something broke while I was slowing using the regenerative braking. The force from the motor flying apart punched a hole in the housing.Very curious about the “decent size hole” thing. That doesn’t sound like a casting failure crack. I wouldn’t think a rock thrown up from road debris would have enough force to put a hole in a motor housing.

Definitely not external debris because the motor is protected by a steel plate. If I can get photos, I’ll share them.
