Retractible Tonneau w/ haybales

So I'm looking into Tonneau covers, and I'm stuck between getting a retractible one or a tri-folding one. I regularly need to pick up hay in my truck bed, and the hay gets in all the little crevices every time... any of ya'll have experience with either of these Tonneau options that also haul haybales? I'm mostly concerned that hay will lodge itself in the rails of a retractible cover over time.

doesn't hay get caught up in the velcro?

not something I've done a lot of. Maybe a dozen times on short trips but it wasnt an issue for me.

Rollup also allows you to use whole bed (unlike retractable) without blocking rear window (unlike tri fold)

I have a retractable and I haul hay every week. No issues here. a few times hay was all over the place and all I did was drive a few miles with the cover open prior to closing it just to be sure

No issues with small bales here. Staw and hay both get messy but you’re going to be blowing away from not toward the roller.

Invest in a leaf blower? I bought a high power battery leaf blower last year and use it for all kinds of cleaning jobs I hadn't considered; blowing out my truck bed, garage, snow on the driveway and sidewalks, my kids. It would make easy work of hay.

Retractable covers seem to eventually ALL have problems.

Trifold for me. I can just take it off when I need to do truck things.

BedRug's make it a PITA

I can see that. I have the bedbug with the rugged bottom - more rubber than carpet. We put our truck through hell as we live out in the country. We carry feed, bedding, Manure, soil, compost and all sorts of wood (both finished and rough) in the back, and then I just pressure-wash it out and/or leaf blow it when I'm done.

We have the bed rug because we also tend to carry $$$$ of camera equipment in the back, so having some soft coverage is essential

Yep, bigger things I just take it off and leave the rails. The bolts are just wingnuts, no tools required. I've got the Ford branded 'rev' one.

I have a trifold that works very well.. I also move hay bales and what not …. And when I really need to stack them I have to take off the piece that connects to the bed …. Which is a 5 minute ordeal. Not bad at all .
