I went by the dealership today to check on a replacement for a running board end cap w/light.

Well you can't buy them separately. You must buy the entire running board. $1408 for a single side.

Out of curiosity, I asked about the headlights.

$1600 each.

Now that it is out of warranty, I don't know if I can afford my truck anymore

I think I saw someone compare an entire BYD EV (not sure which one) to "6 F150 Tail-light replacements" and that kind of tells you how much Ford is fleecing us on these parts.
I think I might find a wrecked Lariat and buy it for parts. Depending upon the vehicles particular damage, I can see only needing a few parts before it becomes profitable and still have a replacement battery....that I'll probably never need.

Ford isn’t the only one making you buy both running boards. Has accident in my GMC Sierra AT4 and the end cap was cracked. The body shop had to by a new set at the price of $1100 and there are no lights in those.

You’re just looking at it wrong. When something fails, you just buy a new truck.

Just make sure you sell all your other parts. Off of a single running board and a single headlight, you’re already $2k closer to a brand new Pro.

There is always a different way of looking at any situation.

I do have to say, the decorative rock I rolled out of its spot was easily a couple of hundred pounds. It only put a mark on the paint of the running board and pushed off the end cap. Nothing was bent, just scuffed.

So at least the running board is pretty tough.

Most modern headlights run up well over $1000, $1600 is pretty standard.
Look for used parts or take-offs. Lots of take-off running boards around.

Modern vehicles are expensive now, it's not just Ford. If you wanted cheap parts cars then a low end Hyundai might be a better candidate, even then new oem parts for new cars are expensive.

Most certainly! I was just out pampering my baby just a few minutes ago :inlove:
My last truck was a 06 Taco 4x4, pretty svelte compared to my lightning. I have become a very cordial driver, as I let others pass, before I even try "threading a needle"

You don't have to worry to much about it. The safety system will slam on the breaks and scream at you if you get within a yard of anything harder than a snowflake. I actually think mine is a bit trashy. When a vehicle is turning off the road in front of me, it still wants to jam on the breaks even after the turning vehicle has left the roadway. It just wants to take its time observing those fine taillights....it has no shame.

Well, my XLT doesn't have the bells & Whistles that a Lariat or Platinum has. I have lane assist & the anti rear end braking, but that is about it...

I don't know if you are actually missing anything. If the system was two or three clicks on the dial better it would be awesome, but as it is, its a toss up. But then again, I'd rather it be a little to "shy" than overly risky. I suspect the configuration of the system is much like most shower water valves. Once you get it close to the way you want it, the smallest of adjustments make the water way to hot or way to cold.
