Hi 2022-2024MY Ford F-150 Lightning Owners,
Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall on certain 2022-2024 F-150 Lightning trucks for a manufacturing defect in the high voltage battery cells that may result in an internal short circuit, potentially causing a fire.
If your vehicle is included, you will receive a message from Ford. In the meantime, you can also verify if your vehicle is included by entering your VIN at www.ford.com/support/recalls/.
Here’s what you need to know:
What is the issue?
We discovered that certain batteries were not built to the manufacturing specifications resulting in a misalignment of the electrodes which could lead to a hard short circuit, potentially causing a fire.
What should I do?
If you are included in this recall, we ask that you only charge your vehicle to 80% until the recall service is performed. For Level 1 and Level 2 charging, this can be set in FordPass or in vehicle. At DC Fast Chargers, we recommend unplugging your vehicle when it reaches 80%.
If my vehicle isn’t included in the recall, should I still charge below 100%?
Customers that are not included in this recall do not need to limit their charge to 80%, however we recommend following healthy battery habits.
Should customers charge outside?
We do not believe this issue will occur if a customer limits their charge to 80% or below.
What is the repair?
Dealers will inspect and replace the high voltage battery array(s) as necessary, free of charge.
Is the repair free?
Yes, Ford is covering the cost of the repair.
When will parts be available?
A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers in the second quarter of 2025 when it is anticipated that parts ordering information including repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall.
