Yeah, his plan was to buy an EV truck or SUV in a couple years, like the first refresh of the Lightning. But his old truck getting totaled and the fear of EV incentives going away soon prompted him to try a lease. I've had relatively good success with my Mach-E for the past 4 years (other than not getting BlueCruise past 1.0 or some other updates, which seems insane at this point), and I think seeing that made him take the leap. His satisfaction will go up with preconditioning - efficient? No…. Less stressful yes. Always plug in, your net power use will be the same but your enjoyment will be much higher.
The trucks are bricks, he needs to slow down - not what many traditional ICE owners want to hear. Short drive speed to hearts content but when in that 100 mile drive range 75 vs 65 can cost you 25% of battery range. Add in a head wind and it can get very frustrating how far the trucks don’t go on a charge.
it takes about 6-9 months to really adjust to “know” your range on any given day - January also about the worst time to introduce someone to an EV.
Assuming he charged to 100%, using 65% SOC to go 95 miles:He's done a few such trips now, and after driving to his destination, which has been 95 miles the past few times, it shows 30-35% charge left when he arrives...
