I plugged my truck in last night to make sure it was charged up to 90% (crazy winds and lots of power outages locally). When I got in the truck this morning and turned it on the SOC indicated 89% (no big deal), then after driving maybe a quarter mile from my house on a flat residential road, I look again and it's reading 91%. I've noticed this several times more recently, anyone else experience something similar? I'm not worried that there is something wrong, but it just seems strange to see. I have also noticed before that if I set the truck to charge to 100% for a road trip, the SOC % will read full for significantly longer that 1.31 kwh would realistically last, especially without regenerative braking.

Normal. I charge to 90% every night. After one of the last updates to the on board charger, there is no consistency to what level I leave the house at. 88, 89, 90 or 91. It's a crap shoot.

Ford's software sucks. It's as simple as that.

Yes. Normal. Battery warms up. As to the 100% for a while, regen braking happens all the time.

I've noticed the 100% SOC hanging around now after 6.5 update. It seems to burn through 5-8% of the 131kw before falling off 100%. It never did that before the update. As for the 1-2% difference in SOC, that is pretty normal as things warm up in the colder weather.

I'm at 6.8.0

Similar experience, for the same reason I charged up to 95% as a precaution for emergency power needs should a storm related problem arise, I unplugged the truck after reaching my goal last evening. Temps were mild all night into Wednesday morning.

This morning just before I clicked remote start while unplugged, then several minutes later.

A short trip to breakfast place with heat on 72 degrees in the cabin, warm wheel & seats
And then the return trip home, granted this is a very short excursion, but the SOC is hardly impacted by the drive and cabin heating demands, though the range adjusted for the energy consumption though at a greater rate than the actual mile(s) driven.

I think the issue is with Fordpass, while I'm plugged in waiting to charge or in the middle of charging I've seen the values swing by a few % and several miles of range when doing an APP refresh to check on truck status.

I'm sure there are a lot of different readings the truck is using to calculate SOC so it makes sense to see it more now that it's colder out. It seems like this winter I also notice that the truck shows reduced maximum power at a much higher SOC/exterior temp than it did last year. Maybe it's in my head, but maybe recent updates reduced the amount of energy spent to maintain battery temps when unplugged to preserve range. Larger battery temp fluctuations may have a more noticeable effect on the measurements used to calculate SOC.

A gas tank behaves similarly, although for different reasons. You can fill it up, the gauge say it's full for that moment in time. Temps vary and the true 'full' is or isn't 'full' as the fuel expands or contracts.

I am not even sure what that SOC number really means. I much rather see the energy available in KWh. This time of the year, I just deduct 10 from SOC I see on display to get a rough idea how much energy I have to work with.

I also can't believe 12V SOC and voltage is not shown on display. Everything in the truck depends on it. I just had to plug in to OBD-II to find out my 12V SOC was at 40%.

@Ford Motor Company please make more of these vital information available to the owner.

Figured I will add this additional point to the conversation about linearity of the GOM-DET.

We've mentioned the phenomena in various threads about how optimistic the reading is when you hit 80%, figured I would reiterate it with evidence.

After yesterday's' road trip of 148 miles round trip, I held off charging until this morning/early afternoon between trips to church, coffee and early dinner. It took about 4 hours 50 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%, if I waited for 85% I would have one hangry woman on my hands.

Note the range prediction before and at 80%

Any reason why you don't keep it at 90% vs 80%? Ford recommends 90% every charge up.

I charge to 90% in the winter and 85% in the summer. @TaxmanHog and I are just pointing out that magical miles appear at 80% SOC, and the GOM isn't to be trusted.

I actually go to 85% per advice of battery experts who have shared their professional experiences [ @MickeyAO ] today I stopped right at 80% for illustration purposes and that fact my wife was looking to get out for lunch/dinner, LOL.

I topped up to 95% yesterday afternoon in preparation for the road trip, when I do race bike hauling trips, I go to 100% just in time to departure hour.
