Good evening,

My truck, 2023 Lariat 511a ER, has developed a problem.

I was driving in rain this evening, nothing too crazy, but while in cruise it would seem I've lost the speed sensor. The cruise kicked off and multiple abs/traction faults appeared. Truck went off 1 pedal and displayed no speed. Fault persisted for the 15 minute drive and didn't clear after a brief power off. Everything else worked normally but the faults remained, still no speedo reading.

I will be contacting my dealer in the morning. I couldn't find any other similar reported problems so thought I'd make a post to see if anyone else has had speed sensor issues.
I won't do a 12v reset until I get it in for a scan so the problem is captured.
There is definitely a sensor problem as when I try and adjust the seat setting it returns an error saying I can't do it in motion, even though the shifter is in park and I'm sitting in the driveway, speedo remains at zero.
The good news is that the truck still runs, I will update as I find out more.

Cheers!

Good luck with it, you need to hope that the truck set some sort of code. Also drive it again now that it sat overnight. If the problem doesn't repeat itself there is no hope of your dealer being able to find and diagnose.

I drove it this morning and the faults cleared within 5 minutes, speedo is alive, abs came back along with the associated other ones. When I reached my destination I shut off and then restarted about 2 minutes later, full function was back. Did a return trip no problem.
There will most likely be a stored code for this one if it doesn't fail again. Most vehicles do store codes when there is an obvious failure, maybe not for a quick glitch but I'll find out Monday. It even reported multiple failures to fordpass.
I had a look at the dealer level codes a while back, they had codes recorded that didn't even produce a fault so I'm confident we will get to the bottom of this.

Most vehicles do store codes when there is an obvious failure
And most dealers are experts at not doing low $ warranty repair work, so they'll probably say that they can't reproduce it and if it's not actively throwing a code when they actually try to diagnose it they will just tell you everything's fine now, don't worry about it.

I remember back in 2008 one drive in my 07 saab93. Started it and the abs/traction control warning lights came on. Drove for ??? miles because the speedometer wasn't working either. Odometer was probably out to lunch as well. Next drive all was better. Never happened again in 4.5 years of ownership. I figured that one of the computers/modules didn't boot up properly and wasn't talking to the central processing system. It can probably happen to any modern car, but doesn't happen often. Hopefully it never happens again for you.

This happened while in motion, it wasn't a boot up problem. Sensors fail occasionally, could even be a bad connection that got wet.

It's unfortunate that that is your experience. My dealer has done any and all warranty work without complaint on my last 2 vehicles and I've never heard of anyone else getting shooed away because the repair is too simple.

Problem was off and on all weekend, called my fantastic dealer this morning and they've scheduled me in tomorrow morning for testing and repair.
They were able to see the codes remotely, looks like the right rear is the culprit.

This technology is awesome, I don't have to bring it in for them to diagnose it and they know what is going on even before the truck gets there.

Troubleshot at the dealer this morning and they've found a problem in the harness for the right rear. Parts on order, should have it next week.
