Speedometer displays 0 while driving

As we were driving our 2024 Flash last night, the speedometer continuously displayed zero. We pulled into a parking lot, turned off the truck, turned it on again and then it started working again. Has anyone else seen this happen? Glitches like these do not give me a lot of confidence that all will go well for the long term…

It's quite possible it did a non-immobilization update shortly after you stated your drive that affected this temporarily. It doesn't happen often but can cause communication glitches like this occasionally while driving. In 2 years and it has happened only a few times for me. Most times, a Sync restart solves the glitch (press/hold volume down and skip right on the wheel for about 10 seconds - you can do this while driving). Once, a truck OFF/ON cycle was required. The upside - It hasn't happened very often.

Ford's architecture of a whole bunch of independent small modules communicating with each other can lead to weird and wonderful symptoms when communication is interrupted for some reason. Another failure that's been reported here is the whole instrument cluster just blank and you can still drive around LOL. At least you can still see the other stuff on the cluster?

The upside is, usually these sorts of problems are self correcting. The modules eventually re-establish communication after a power cycle.

Looks like 10.1.1. I think it has been the same since we got the truck in November. I have automatic updates turned on and set for 1am. How can I tell if I have the latest software update?

That's pretty much current, see my SIG below, we're waiting for 10.3.0 to come out of a holding pattern for a bug fix, then Blue Cruise 1.4 and you're likely update to date with OTA's, though there could be other updates which can only be delivered via FDRS.

If it's not tied to a defective system needing a service repair, the service tech's won't install them, or a CSP or RECALL, those would be installed by service.
