I was lucky enough to have a Ford employee accept my Ford Pass request in the truck, so I can see it is parked at the proving grounds. It was built on April 22, but it still shows "in production" so I assume it's missing something.

The launch event was April 26th. It is now May 10th.

I'm not sure what the hell the launch event was for other than to try to boost the stock. Yall can keep bouncing around ideas, but the facts are Its been 2 weeks since "Launch". Nobody has a truck. Nobody has shipped status on their tracker.

You all freaking out for no reason. This is a batch and hold, also the media embargo lifts tomorrow. They can't have people potentially getting then before the media releases.

You guys think they couldn't manage to get enough chips for the first 15k (not even first 1000) EV trucks? They could easily take them from any of their other models and they will.

Maybe if we were in model year 23 but you don't have to worry about the first 15k trucks not getting chips. It is their new flagship product and their f150 series. They already said they are prioritizing their most profitable line of vehicles.

They didn't build this big ass plant just to have its first batch of vehicles sit around waiting for chips. 🤣

Yeah, I think it's a marketing decision. Get a bunch of news outlets all pumping out hype on the truck tomorrow (at least, I'm anticipating it will be positive reviews) and then ship a bunch of them all at once. It will go from a vehicle you've never seen in person to one that seems like it's everywhere practically overnight, versus a slow trickle out.

yeah I’m freaking out, not because of “chips” more because of an All-Electric Vehicle is parked outside……. Perfect nesting for rodents…. Not to mention the previous rusting issues with the ICE F-150 from being stored outside. Nothin Big, just a concern

My ICE F150 has been parked outside for 5 years, and the only rust I have is around the hitch receiver where the finish wore off from the hitch. It's aluminum bodied, it'll be fine. In a more normal market, a truck would sit on the lot for weeks or months before being sold.

That would make more sense if they were being held at dealers - but they are still in Dearborn - they are weeks, maybe months, away from being in peoples hands.

Unfortunately they are starting to put the trucks on delivery hold. This is mine as of yesterday.

the whole "wait for the media embargo to end" is not a good reason to hold shipping. There's already a multi-year demand for this vehicle, and every 2022 lightning that will ever be produced is already reserved or ordered. They don't need the media to drive sales.

I still stand by what I said. I don't believe they plan to ship anything till tomorrow. Maybe today if they know they wont be on the lot till tomorrow?

Possibly they found a recall issue that they may want to fix first, but I doubt that.

Or a software bug they need to fix - I could see that happening

There's more to the media than sales. The media buzz is to increase their stock price.

Yep. A lot more than just sales. Public image and perception of how they handled their business. They are perfectly okay making people wait a few weeks if it benefits them. They know the vehicles are already sold so it doesn't matter if they sit there longer.

In normal times new vehicles could sit on dealer lots for months before they were purchased. I think the Lightnings will be just fine sitting in Dearborn for a few weeks.

I'm starting to think my May 27 build date may be perfect - other than it not getting completed that day and it sitting on the line over a holiday weekend. To say the least I'm hopeful and believe they will start to ship in the next day or two and should have this backlog cleared just about the time to get mine right on a train/truck and delivered within a week or two of build.

Ford is shipping a fraction of the F-150's they normally would. I believe they have plenty of capacity in their shipping arsenal. I think 3 weeks for most of us max once they start moving.
