They only reason someone would drop their Ford Lightning for a Cyber Truck is vanity. You can say tech all you want, but the design of that vehicle is to say "look at me" and that's why people buy it. Or they buy it for a business or something like that, which makes sense. People buying a Lightning and then getting rid of it bc their CT # came in is crazy to me. CT has it's own reliability issues as well.
Maybe they buy it because the frunk can act as a vegetable slicer, or for it's bullet-proof body and shatter-proof gla...ooops...

The sturdy steel body might come in handy when the "trim pieces" fly off on the highway and the accelerator gets stuck in a rain storm with burnt out wiper motors, eh?

Lmao. $120,000 gimmick. The cars are way more down to earth than the CT.

that isn't an opinion...it's fact
That is an opinion, not a fact. Incorporating old tech does not make it more “technologically” advanced, just packed with more crap. Crap that will break and that will have low quality control.

The one I am shocked you didn’t mention that I would have totally supported was the steer by wire. That is truly advanced.

Air ride suspension could be a nice thing for a particular use case, but by no means “technologically” advanced. Now if they used the forward facing cameras and predicted the road and instantaneously adjusted the ride to not make a ripple in a glass of water. Then yeah heck yeah, truly “technologically” advanced. Being able to raise and lower is extremely old tech that low riders had in the 90’s and semi have had even longer.

Four wheel steering may seem impressive, but again old school. The Hummer EV can even crab walk. 🤯. To me “technologically” advanced would be able to utilize the sensors to split the rear differential to allow the truck to basically pivot on the rear wheel to dramatically reduce the turning radius. (Google stock horses or barrel racing for nature’s example with a horse that can pivot on its haunches)

Already told you why your 48v is pathetic compared to the 400v system the Lightning has at its disposal….48v in a gasser might, might have merit.

Also already told you the UI sucks, they went too far in thinking everything should be a touch screen, and the lightning has the same level of software detail, you just don’t have access to it.

So yeah, your personal opinion with a crumb of a fact stretch to try to fit your personal view.

Oh my God you are impossible. You admit the CT API is better (last I knew we were discussing CT vs Lightning) than Lightning. So you can't win that argument, so instead you switch to charger and charger APIs. Seriously, do you "hear" yourself?

I'm out.

It's SOOO obvious that the tech of the CT is superior to that of the Lightning. You guys are unable to see things from a neutral perspective.

Good luck.
Tech should be invisible, running flawlessly behind the scenes, like the infamous HAL 9000 as I speed toward my destination destiny.

I really ponder the CT and wonder...why? (More like WTF really.)

- The shape? If it were to be aerodynamic like the Aptera, well then fine it would have a function, but it isn't...so the only function might be a pathetic attempt at intimidation?

- Bullet proof body? Bullet proof body? Seriously? Only in the mind of a paranoid tech billionaire is that needed! (Or worth $100k)

- $100k? WTF?! How is it worth $100k? No f-ing way!

Check out FB Lightning pages especially the Lightning for sale page…many in there selling bc they have CT orders.
Go figure - how many though?

They'll be sorry I bet.

So many serious recalls (NTHSB), seems poorly made by some reviewers.

Definitely over-priced.

But a fool and their money are easily parted...so they say.

Not sure I would agree, unless you are running some old school filament bulbs there isn’t much that works directly off the 12V supply without some sort of DC-DC conversion.

The benefits of 48V in wiring harness are not only cost and weight reductions, but also the resistive losses are reduced as the power increases with the square of the current. I would guess that Ford and other legacy automakers are well into planning the transition to 48V but expect to some hybrid designs in the meantime.

I looked on FB didn't find any.
Looked in the Lightning group and in the Marketplace.
Maybe I didn't look in the right place?
Do you have a link to one?
Thanks.

I have a fairly smart home and don’t know where there are any DC runs except maybe POE, you got me on that problem.

And modems, computers, LEDs and other electronics can accept any input voltage, sometimes an AC wall plug, sometimes a DC wall adapter. My point is you have DC-DC converters on all electronics that produce the unique voltages needed. For example USB-C PD spec used by PCs is 5A but delivered at 28V, 36V, 48V, or a variable voltage determined by the device and this is converted internally to what is needed.

An LED needs only a few volts to forward bias the junction and light up, an internal resistor limits the current, the resistor is just 4x bigger in a 48V system.

I don’t think Tesla made the change without real advantages, weight loss is significant and parasitic heating losses are greatly reduced. Take a look at the number and sizes of fuses, the power management of modern cars has grown greatly.
