Several have posted about the "This Trip" not resetting the time or the miles on a random basis. It seems to work 95-99% of the time. I'm a retired software engineer and these sorts of bugs are hard to find/recreate. This doesn't happen often, so its hard to set up the right scenario for failure. I have had it happen several times, so I have been trying to observe what is different. There are 3 scenarios that I can recall that it has not reset. Each time I have done something different than "normal", which I define as Stop, Put in Park, keep foot on the brake and turn off.

Scenario 1. I heard that the Lightning would put itself in park when the "stop" button was pushed (turned off). I was curious, so I was stopped in a parking spot in drive and turned off the lighting. Yes the shifter automatically go into park. After returning to the truck, restarted and this trip time and miles were not reset.

Scenario 2. Decided to try the remote start via the app one morning to let the cab warm a bit. (Not a planned departure) Upon arrival at my destination, the seat moved back (easy exit function was turned on). I had to go into settings and turn that back off. When I came back out to the truck and started it, Time / Miles were not reset.

Scenario 3. This one is a little more subtle. I set the parking brake before turning the truck turned off. I turn off and exit the truck. I came back restarted and all is at zero. I do not manually release the parking brake, but put it into reverse and press the accelerator this seems to automatically release the brake. I arrive at my destination and turn off. I come back to the truck and turn on, the "This Trip" Time/Miles are not reset.

Here is another post where others has had this issue. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/what-is-my-ev-driving-measuring.13633/#post-285355 It is not unique to my truck, so I don't think I have a service issue.

These three scenarios seem to involve the truck automatically doing something. Eamples: Putting the truck in park upon stop, remote start (profile issue?), automatically releasing the parking brake. @Ford Motor Company pass this along to the software engineers, as it could help them significantly in debugging this issue.

I have a 23 Lariat SR with a build date of 12/27/2022. As far as I can tell have have the latest Sync build (4.13?). I have the camera button at the top of the screen and the volume knob is a multi selector. I also have You Tube and NBC for entertainment. This looks like the latest that is getting rolled out.

If I have any other scenarios that the This Trip does not reset, I will add them to this thread. I would encourage others to do the same. To be helpful, specifics matter in something random like this.

Ford has known this since 2021 at least as it's an issue in the Mach-E also.

Glad they know. If you are a member of that forum, cross post this one over to them. Its one thing to know about the issue, its another to be able to recreate it. Trust me, if something that has to have the right combination of settings, the specifics will help them track it down. Software development can be maddening.

Did your truck come with this software version or did it update to it? Haven’t heard of a MY23 getting OTA upgrade past 4.1.1, hoping it was OTA.

I’ve tried all combinations you mention in my Mach-E over the past 2 years. If you do any shutdown procedure enough times, the problem will occur. The converse is also true.
The good news is that the MPK is always correct and I just ignore wrong stuff which I really don’t find useful anyway.

I wonder if this problem is a symptom of trying preserving the drive values for brief mid trip pauses, such as my routine, shut down / key off vehicle, run into Dunks to grab my coffee, return key on/run and values are preserved for the remainder of the trip leg?

Unfortunate certain combinations of action cause the reset and not always reliable transmit of values to ford pass.

I'd rather that it reset 100% of the time when truck is shut off, transmit the data to the cloud reliably.

If I want to maintain the values, I can leave the truck running, grab my PAAK device or FOB, lock the door, grab coffee, return and resume the journey without interrupting the cumulative values.

As far as I know it is the version that came with the truck. I took delivery 1/5/23. I have not seen any notices about updates. I have checked manually a couple of times and got the no updates available message.

Nope.

Miles per kilowatt on This Trip, Trip 1, and Trip 2 may NOT be correct. We took a trip in October and Trip 1 and Trip 2 miles per kilowatt reset, but miles did not. I lost my "since new" efficiency measure. Yes, this was on a Mach-E, but I believe the issue is on both vehicles.

The only trustworthy number is the odometer.
