I was under the impression a buyback was a branded title in all cases. According to Google it's state specific and will always be flagged by Carfax. If it were me I'd assume it will affect resale value.
Yep, which I’m okay with as I plan to keep this till it dies. That being said, if the list price is only 15% below a normal used but has 50% the similar resale value, I’d need that sale price to go down and/or extended warranty covered for me to feel good regardless.

My Brother just went through a Buy back..
It's a step above a lemon.

A lemon would be difficult to insure and would show on the registration/ title..

A buy back is just that. Shouldn't show on the registration, but should show on carfax. Dealer, in your case Ford won't loose as much money with a buy back when it comes to reselling it.. yes, my brother got 100% of his out of pocket, tax, license, extended warranty, everything. Actually they offered him a 10k payback to keep the vehicle..he turned it down. I would have kept it. 18 months old and a brand new engine due to an oil leak that they didn't try to repair. But sent back to the manufacturer to tear down and see why it leaked.

Good car for anyone looking to get a vehicle with 8.5 years powertrain warranty left on it.
Hope he didn't make a mistake with a Model Y. Although he did a 3 year lease, so he should be fine.

Many years ago I had a lemon with my Jeep Cherokee. But I didn't get Tax and license back then.

A close friend/neighbor down the street Bought a New 22" Taco 4x4, 2 yrs ago, took it to the dealer for an paid Oil change, they found metal flakes in the oil, he asked them about it they said it was "normal" (1st oil change) He made a fuss about it but they kept insisting that it was normal, He had them document on the w/o what was found, after a couple more oil changes (don't remember if they were as bad as the first) they were on a trip to Bolinas on the Cali Coast and the engine light came on. Had to have it towed back to the dealer. they did an exploratory on it. Found problems with the engine. Dealer was going to drop a new engine in it, He said he** NO! He said they could keep it. Long story short after a go around they (Toyota) bought the truck back. Gave him every penny he spent on the truck, including accessories. I believe he had 11k on the mileage... What a pain in the A** to go through...
