I've never been involved in vehicle manufacturing but in my experience in mfg scheduling the throughput usually ramps up over the first month or two by 25-50%. A lot of it is simply increase uptime of equipment as you get the bugs worked out. If they're starting at 1000/wk I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's 1500 by summer. Pioneer74 can obviously comment more specifically about Ford scheduling.
Agree with you, but I think the problem for Ford is the limitation of common elements spread among all EV model lines (cells & chips) consolidated to specific assemblies is throttling the ideal ramp up potential, once they have the full picture of our orders after wave 6, down range scheduling could get better if resources also improve.

Urban myth. My dealer said this was a croc, told me to get what I want. My '21 KR PowerBoost was built in Dearborn on May 7 and delivered to me in Delray Beach on May 21, only 14 days later. The paint was barely dry.. It has a Ford spray-in liner. I find the "OEM" better than my former Line-X liners solely due to the Ford logo, but it is also way less hassle. Yes, it is done by a jobber in Dearborn, but they are high-volume and right across the street. Same for the rumors regarding retractable bed cover, which for some reason is not an option on the Lightning, so will have to order separately.
Yep, have to agree wholeheartedly on this one. Been doing factory spray-ins since Ford started offering them on our trucks and it's never added any time. All of them have arrived and sprayed properly and as good or better than I could get from any local shop. Which also brings me to the Lightning and the box lighting and other bed features on the newer trucks. I'd rather have Ford do it than have some local guy make sure he doesn't accidentally spray one of my lights or whatnot.

OTOH, some of the dealer installed options are usually not that great of a deal. It's not that they're a problem if you want them, you'll end up taking the truck somewhere to do the same or doing it yourself. Handy to order with the truck and have the dealership install because then they can be rolled into the purchase price and financing if that helps you out. DIOs usually cost a bit more for that privilege.

What retractable cover are you looking at? I also saw it was not an option when ordering. I would like that over folding.

Your dealer lied to you. I ordered my 21 F-150 back in January 2021 and it was finished being built around March 2nd. It's sat for 3 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the bedliner to get sprayed.

I use Retrax XR's exclusively (or the Ford OEM-branded version that they make), have all the Yakima goodies to use on top.

Job 1 still starting on 3/14?
There are news reports and videos of production starting during the week of 3/3
These would be mannequins, as far as retail orders probably week of 4/11

So mannequins are Job 1? I thought retail was to start 5/2 per another thread which cited build date confirmations.

I do not know for certain, couldn't they be running them at the same time? Mannequins will eventually be retail units once the mandatory aging and mileage are met.

Mentioned in another thread, Job 2 for ICE F-150 is starting in a couple of weeks. How do we think that could positively influence the Lightning? My gut would hope and tell me that anything they have lined up from the last few months for Job 2 ICE would have already made it into Job 1 Lightning, but I just don't know how nimble they truly are about incorporating recent changes into a production line they've been creating for a few months.

Any body tweaks would make it since they are made on the same line, and SW should be easily updatable into a line, but not sure what other change there could be or would make it in. Any insights?

4/18 date here for my Lightning. There's a person on this forum that has a 4/11 as well, that's the earliest I've seen. Praying, assuming the parts and chips for these early production dates are already secured but who knows.. hopefully they'll roll off the lines on time, get their additional quality checks that'll have to be done for early prods, and we get to see them sometime in mid to late May.

Another problem for delayed production might come from the world neon gas supply which powers the lasers used to produce auto chips. About 75% comes (came) from the Ukraine and Russia. The two Ukraine producers are currently out of service and Russia is sanctioned.

Although chip producers did stockpile ahead of time it is certain over time production of chips will be affected.

Commodity constraints could dictate production. Need the EPA certification prior to delivery, hopefully that's just a formality and is baked into the anticipated delivery schedules. Hope to see some on the roads and as mannequins on dealer lots soon.
