Anything with an RFA in it (Lariats and above I believe).

Having said that...I guess it won't work with just using the fob? That seems strange that they'd have a menu option for something that will only work via Bluetooth and a phone. Wondering why they couldn't make it work with just the fob if you aren't using PAAK?
Right?

The truck recognizes the key fob long before it recognizes the phone. If it can recognize its existence it could recognize its absence.

PAAK only works when the ford pass is open and in the foreground of my android. I can't understand why PAAK isn't a background process that would allow it to be more dependable

I don't depend on the PAAK.

WAL, LOL!!, I have a Lariat, no WAL. I have been asking anyone who will listen, where the WAL is. The only answer I get is it works on the mach e.

I have been told by the dealer service people that the next update is supposed to mend the PAAK. I am not holding my breath.

As long as the key fob continues to work reliably, I am good. Yes, I have given up on PAAK and WAL working in a reliable manner.

WAL only works on trucks that have gotten the BCM update. There is supposedly an OTA version that eventually will show up for people who haven't gotten the dealer tech to do the FDRS version of the update. No idea when that will happen, though.

I have this BCM update and the later gateway updates and the APIM updates that enabled all the Sync toggle buttons. I can tell you that it all does work as intended. I have both a MME and a Lightning, and in order for WAL to work properly on either of them I must have the correct vehicle selected in FP, even though I may be carrying a fob for that vehicle at the time.

Could someone upload the Sync screen to enable this? What was the BCM/APIM update again?

Do you have all the permissions set in Android? Android tamps down on background apps to conserve battery life unless you greenlight them

Reviving my old thread about WAL and tagging @bmwhitetx the Forscan guru...

In a different thread you said that 2024's have WAL. I have the WAL option in my sync settings screen - it was there from the factory and before I did any Forscan mods, but even though it is "enabled", it has never worked.

I have checked all of the other WAL threads that I could find. I don't have the BCM lines available to activate WAL in Forscan that the 2024's are supposed to have:

726-89-02
726-90-01
726-89-01

But I do have the APIM line to activate WAL and feedback:

7D0-09-05

Any experience with this and any advice? Was the WAL setting in my sync menu a mistake by Ford?

If I disable the WAL setting in my sync screen (it was enabled from the factory), I can't re-enable it unless I do it through Forscan. If I try and re-enable on the sync screen, it shows the radio button on enable for a second and then switches back to disabled.

A lot to unpack here. First, after re-reading your earlier posts, I wonder if it's due to you having the SSV or a Pro, or both.

Here is what I can tell you so far. I've downloaded As-Builts for about 50 Lightnings representing all years and trims. Plus a handful of ICE F-150's.

Here is what I see for those BCM parameters (includes checksum digits):
726-89-01 All years and trims have only two bytes "00" with a B7 checksum
726-89-02 Does not exist on any Lightnings. Exists on a '24 ICE PowerBoost (all zeros).
726-90-01:
Case 1) Vast majority of 22 and 23's have just 0037-F5.
Case 2) A few 22-23's and all 24's have 0037-0100-00F6.
Mine is one that has the additional digits (showed after the BCM update). There is no rhyme or reason why the few others do. So it must be because they got their BCM updated also.

So you should have something for 726-89-01 and 726-90-01. You can DM me your VIN and I will pull your AS-Built.

I don't think the 726-89-01 or 726-89-02 are WAL related since they are the same for all trucks regardless of BCM/WAL status. But it appears the expanded 726-90-01 may be a player.

Bottom line FORScan will not enable the BCM part, you need the dealer update.

Caveat for 726-898-02: I have seen an instance with another module that the online As-Built database from Motorcraft did not have some of the higher numbered parameters. Don't know if it's the case here. Need to get my cable out and scan that module physically.
